Granted, it was a little experimental.

PEMDAS maths stuff, many replies to the tweet. I like the answer being 7 but really 3 hehe

These BEDMAS (or whatever) things should really be in the "things that drive me bonkers" thread. All the mouth-breathers who sat at the back of maths classes looking out the window, arguing about something simple, obvious and well-known.
Yes, I see them all the time on Facebook and can't believe people invest so much time and effort into them.

Having said that the answer is obviously 17.

Makes no difference. Multiplication and division are commutative, as are addition & subtraction.
I'm probably due a mathematical whoosh parrot. But since when have division and subtraction been commutative?

'A' level Maths was a *long* time ago. (Hell, is this even 'A' Level? 'O' Levels were even longer ago.)

I think commutative is taught at KS1; associative is taught at KS2 - all primary school.

Thanks, but I doubt KS's were even a thing when I was at school; my 'A' Levels were 50 years ago. And I'm afraid I don't know what KS1 and KS2 are.

I knew what I meant, but my head provided the wrong word; an increasing common occurrence these aardvarks.
