I heard Shearer say on MOTD a few weeks ago that I’ve always lived by;

To be early, is to be on time.
To be on time, is to be late.
To be late, is to be unacceptable.
Armed forces that, if you're on time you're late

I prefer:

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.

As mentioned 'buy cheap, buy twice'

Aside form that, Kenny Rogers! What a song to live life by...

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

My dad (he was a teacher) told me never promise a child anything unless you’re prepared to meet the promise and never threaten a child unless you’re prepared to see it through.

As a parent I’ve always remembered it but rarely lived up to it.

I always promised myself I wouldn't make the same mistakes raising my kids that my parents made with me. And I stuck to that; I made a whole load of different mistakes.

Only a fool worries about things they have no control over, said by my dad 50 odd years ago.
I've been a bloody fool many times and looking back he was right.

Before you criticise someone walk a mile in their shoes. As you'll be a mile away from them - and you'll have their shoes.

If there is anything you can do about something it's not worth worrying about. If there is nothing you can do - it isn't worth worrying about.

I'm here for a good time, not a long time.

Oh yeah and you know that Baz Luhrmann song about Sunscreen? Pretty much all of that.

In a similar vein... pretty much most of "Some of it" by Eric Church.

To paraphrase:

Never put your finger somewhere you wouldn't put your dick.

Undoubtedly saved a digit or two when I've been working on machinery/cars/whatever.

In honour of todays possible BoJo shenanigans.

Let your word be 'Yes, Yes' or 'No, No'; anything more than this comes from the evil one.

We have two safety briefings for new starters where I work, the first is the sit down with lots of paperwork and the second is me telling them what you just posted.

We had a young girl start a while back so I told her not to stick her fingers were it would be unwise for a bloke to stick a certain part of his anatomy, she got the idea hehe
