Heavy rain overnight (Surrey) but I have just given the grass an overdue cut. The warm winds meant the grass was bone-dry this morning for the first time in weeks. Cool story, bro.

17 degrees on my run this morning. Was about 2 the other day. That's quite a jump, and warm for this time of year!

Also a really quick thaw here. 90% of the snow on the hills gone in less than a day.

If my outdoor thermometer is to be believed, it's 12 degrees warmer than yesterday, Oxfordshire Wiltshire border. problem with that is that everything in the garage is dripping water due to the rapid change in temperature.
Presently enjoying what I hope is the tail end of storm Bert.

my car 335d xdrive on continental ts870s completely unstopable.
That's got to be a worry. My Vantage on Pirelli Sottozeros stops just fine.
Ha ha gotta love the English language.

It hit 20c here on Saturday, I washed the car. It also tried snowing an hour or so back, but was very half-hearted and gave up.

Ha, we can just about see 19° in our kitchen if the heating, log fire and oven has been on all day! Bloody granite house.

Snowing again too in Colorado. 2-4" predicted, so I was looking forward to working from home.... Actual accumulation - fk all, despite it having snowed for about 13 hours so far.

Isle of Wight Update.

Frost!

Quite rare, we had frost overnight, generally we get 1 or 2 frosts a year, never before Chrimbo.

Do you reckon the rest of the world looks at us and shakes their heads as to how we deal with weather?

A week of hot weather in the summer (if we're lucky) and people are dying of thirst and exposure. We get an inch or 2 of snow if we are lucky in the winter pretty much anywhere except the Highlands and movement becomes completely impossible, with cars crashing left right and centre. People stranded in the middle of nowhere, rescue operations etc.

We have an environment agency who are more interested in protecting overgrown waterways wildlife than the waterways actually being able to pass water, resulting in yearly flooding of rural areas exacerbated by constant building on flood plains and seemingly no-one being able to grasp how drainage works.

I'll never get why most people in the UK aren't using all season tyres, our boring car is on cross climates and they are perfect for it. It sees ski hols in the Alps and proper snow but also 40 degrees plus in southern Europe during the summer and they function fine, why people have a mental block over "winter" tyres I don't understand, bearing in mind how sedately everyone drives these days anyone who is driving a "normal" car doesn't need a sporty summer tyre bearing in mind it's only really going to function at its best for about one month a year. Most of the year we spend in the crossover point between summer and winter tyres with winter tyres being useful for about 3 months of the year with cold road temps. The difference being that even a full on winter tyre won't cause you to fall off the road in the middle of summer, or be unable to get on to your driveway/up a gentle hill. Remove winter tyres from the equation and fit all seasons and unless you've managed to find an empty road without dawdlers or speed cameras you will be happy with them 12 months a year.
