Byker, sorry to hear Elsie is poorly.
I hope she gets better asap.

Etlinsdy, I hope your grandson gets well soon too.

I hate it when kids are poorly, it makes one feel si helpless.

Bobbers, I hope your leftover aching soon subsides. Acting Senior again, eh? scratchchin Are you sure you're not being groomed? wink

Magoo, please stop shrinking. You are obviously spending far too much time in wet conditions.
However, it sounds like the restoration work is coming along a fair treat.

I'm off out now, to walk to my GP surgery to drop off my repeat prescription request. Well, it's a good warm up for my Thursday maniac rehab workout session.
After that, I'm heading over to collect two urchins from school and look after them until Daddy gets home from work.
It's a tough life, but somebody had to do it, and D O'L is too far away.

Ah well, KBO, and no mistake, eh? smile

Good aftermorn chaps, chapesses and others.

Yesterday's dimmer-switch exercise didn't go according to plan, but I removed the switch for the en-suite light, disconnected the wires (having taken a photo first, so I had some idea where they went), got rid of the accumulation of debris and dust from the switch housing, gave it a stern talking-to and reassembled everything - it works!

I will leave it alone and if it fails again, it knows what's going to happen to it.

Flushed with success, I took a trip to Lymington this morning, even though the weather is damp, drizzly and miserable, which probably explains the complete absence of indigenous wildlife. Barely anything to be seen, and I can't say that I blame them. This afternoon I plan to give my car a quick rinse, as it seems to have attracted a lot of natural debris, and that will be enough for the day.

Livin' the dream.

Still trying to get my £700 pounds back from Sum up card company. frown

Yesterday I found a GU10 bulb, fitted it and I now have 3 bulbs working! I also mounted (on the wall) an A1 year planner as Im sick of double booking car events that clash on the same day! Told Mrs Fatboy to keep her mitts of it, I don't want any family birthdays and crap all over it! Its for Rockabilly weekenders car and bike shows only.

My phone forecasts rain from 16.45.

I'll just hold it up to the window so it can look outside. Throwing it down out there, it is.

I'm sure it's my fault. Solar panels installed yesterday, lucky with the cloud and rain if they are doing 0.1kw.
Still Mrs B thinks that offsets the 2kw heaters in the conservatory, that she's crafting in... frown

I beg your pardon. These are not LGBMGBGT lights. They are Premier lights so they will go BANG.

I see no reason to doubt your phone's meteorological prowess, Dicky.
It's not like it said it wasn't raining already at 14:41, is it?

IOTN, Whilst walking from where I had to park my car to the school where I had to pick up Big George and then Robbopoppet I had to negotiate some fast-flowing torrents and a few what can only be termed as "lakes".
Wearing these shoes! rolleyes
They used to be waterproof, but today they have failed me miserably. The underparts have worn away to the point where every step I take acts like a suction pump drawing water up through the heels and soles in sufficient volume to cause the bilges to be overwhelmed and flood the scuppers. My socks were wringing wet and still are, my feet were wetter than they were in my shower this morning, and I will have to put them back on again* to drive back home, as long as the toads aren't flooded.
It's wet wet wet and grim oop norf.
And no mistake. I blame that Byker and his solar panels.

* Detachable feet: a must-have option for the terminally damp septuagenarian man outdoors.

If I'd known then what I know now, I would have brought my wellies.
And a snorkel and a pair of flippers, if Paua has any to spare...

Best of luck with that one, fatboy! rofl

IOTN, yesterday I was rooting about in the spare lamp cupboard, looking for a Standard Edison Screw cap light bulb. Whilst searching, I discovered two boxes of a dozen GU10s and five (5) individually boxed LED GU10s, four (4) Miniature Edison Screw Spotlamp bulbs, an indeterminate number of low wattage candle bulbs, some pink and peach mood light incandescent bulbs, several 60w tungsten filament bulbs, some random bayonet xap curly fluorescent energy-saving lamps and four candles.
Plus random other tat such as a box of staples, various fuses, some Blu-tack and a packet of iron-on hemming web tape.

You're probably guessing that I didn't find what I was looking for, aren't you?
Well, you'd be wrong, because the very last thing I found in there was a Standard Edison Screw cap light bulb! idea

Winner winner chicken dinner! woohoo

It took me ages to cram everything back in there. frown

I bought GU10 LED lamps for the kitchen.
The old ones were 50W, expensive and unreliable, and anytime one popped the transient current would usually trip the breaker. PITA for me, but impossible for the Memsahib to sort out.
The new LEDs are only 4W each but give much better light in the Memsahib's laboratory kitchen.
There are eight (8) in three (3) separate fittings so we have gone from 400W nominal consumption to 32W.
I bought a pack of twelve (12) lamps thinking I would obviously need spares.
Nope.
Not one has failed in six (6) years.
I feel slightly cheated.
And no mistake.

Meanwhile...
The Memsahib is a trifle under the weather.
She has the lady equivalent of man-flu.
She has retired to her boudoir with her mobile phone, so that she can summon the night staff (yrs trly) at whim.

Oh, there it goes!
Her HWB is sub-optimal apparently.

Moustache.

Goodnight All.

Chow Mein chicken with egg fried rice followed by jam sponge pudding and custard has been devoured.

The wind has started up and looks to be with us overnight, it should get up to about 50 mph but the weekend looks worse at 60 mph plus for at least 24 hours, oh joy. One of the pleasures of residing 1,000 feet above C level.
