There you go again, Dicky.
Casually planting earworms from arfur century ago.
Cheers.

(Autocorrupt said earthworms, which is an image I didn't want to contemplate).

The Memsahib is rather poorly. She managed a bite or two of breakfast with two cupsa Rosie and has returned to her bed.
My friend Judith's rather wayward son has helped himself to Judith's car so I am off out to take Judith to the supermarket in the dreaded Volvosaurus.
Pip pip!

Decent morning at work, quick session at the gym, first clean and press I've done in around 8 years and still managed 5 reps at 50kg so pretty happy with myself right now!!!
A shave and a shower and I'm off for a few beers!!

Thanks for the encouragement gr.
The rendering at the top of the facade is complete! Scaffold broken and carted home with the new tipper truck. Just a small tower left on the job for a bit of help with rendering the upper window surrounds. They have a deep reveal and I’m going to try and make it look like the coin stones like the windows below.
It’s been a bit of a push today and sweat has been leaked.

Home now and just finished a hearty lunch with the last of the fig n peach crumble as desert.

Here you can see the coin stones below that I want to try and replicate on the concrete surrounds of the upper windows.
I will put a few pics up later on the progress.

A lovely job, Magoo! Top work, I'm surprised that little Macron didn't get you on board to sort out the cathedral!

Gud aftermorn! Yes, late again on account of a gnurly start in order to beat the weather which will be unleashed upon us around mid-afternoon, or so we are informed. Storm Gary, or whatever it's called will hang around all day tomorrow, apparently, which won't help my step count average, so I'm having to do the best I can today.

I now have my second eye catalyst removal scheduled for mid-February, so while I'm not looking forward to the actual operation, I'm very much looking forward to the end result.

Not much else to report, I'm not having a "work Christmas do" on account of no longer having to bother to do "work". I might just have a dram or two for medicinal purposes, though. And to keep out the cold.

Stay safe and warm.

How often do you see a 19th century warship and a 21st century warship in the same place???

Look in the background.

That’s how it’s standing tonight. Should be able to make out the few rocks I planted in the old block work.

You can see the two (2) halves rendered over this week. Should all dry the same in a few weeks. For those interested. The mix is. Six (6) parts 0/4 sharp red sand one (1) part white cement and one (1) part white lime.

Only reason I did it in two parts was that I don’t have enough scaffolding to do the whole stretch like.

Will you have the mock quoins and lintels standing slightly proud, Monsieur? If so, how thin can you go?

I'm interested because I did some woeful shuttering that has all manner of gaps and needs a skim over to look presentable and was wondering how thin a skim I could get away with.

The thicker it is, the more uneven I'm likely to make it.

paperbag

Superb job, Monsieur. I like the history of the house all there to be read.

Yes they will be in relief Dicky. The shouldn’t be much thicker that a centimetre. I will just slap it on in the rough shape and then carve it to the right size as it goes off like. Then just mark the false joints in distress with a small iron tool.
I’ve already primed the concrete with a sbr type primer.
The deep reveal sides will be also marked out like some sort of coin stone ends etc.

Dicky I think you can buy an external pre mixed jolop that can be spread in thinly. Someone on the diy section was asking about it a few weeks back.
Preparation is key as always mate.

It's fairly fresh so it should be okay. Maybe I'll use premixed jolop and prime it as well.

Thanks!

Bowie's influenced-by-acid period is my favourite.

Give our collective best to Mrs 404. It's rotten feeling rotten.

We've got the grandkids overnight. Had some fun, but didn't get them asleep until after 8.
We had food and Mrs B has gone to bed already tired out...
