That goes without saying. You'd have to be mad to ask.

BUT, there's another hidden trap, far harder to avoid. It sneaks up on you.

A larger lady I know very well and speak to daily dropped into conversation the fact that her due date was only a couple of months away.

When receiving surprising news, and being caught off guard like that, you don't get the time to wonder what you should say.

"Oh, you're pregnant?" is NOT the right thing to say. Her response was furrowed brow, and "How can you not see I'm pregnant?" look on her face, followed soon after by a sigh and a sad look. She politely moved the conversation on, but I'm quite sure we shall both agonise over it for many years to come.
