What Are Your Gym/Fitness/Routine Moans?
Discussion
So...
They've fked the gym. Wrapped the full shop in cotton wool. No sauna (the only thing that made the daft bill worth it). 8 cable machines into one. 5 benches down to 3. They were already past their capacity pre-covid, waiting was a problem before, now it's expected. No... not for £70/month.
Never felt so right wing/anti vaxxer/flat earthy type man in my life. Just didn't make sense at all. I'm fully in the mood for lowering risk but they've ruined the gym
DD cancelled and form submitted to cancel the account
To be expected I guess from one of the big leisure clubs. Very disappointed

It's the same take-a-sledgehammer-to-crack-a-nut approach that is now de rigueur.They've fked the gym. Wrapped the full shop in cotton wool. Fortunately I have a home gym and myself and the odd client(s) I have left will be training there come September.

Yep, bloody bar stewards. Feel quite far away from the lowest common denominator in that regard...Fortunately I have a home gym and myself and the odd client(s) I have left will be training there come September.
That's the way to go. We've got an outbuilding at work with a few bits in, time to get some more gear in there I think!
I went back to Total Fitness in Wilmslow, was quiet, they have made an effort and it quite clearly says to use the disinfectant sprary to wipe down the equipment you use after use, but obviously quite a few are way too special to do that and just carried on as normal, the usual gym woman with a baseball cap on, massive fake boobs and a perma tan, ahole.

None of that matters if YOU wash your hands and equipment you've used before/after each time you move round the gym. BTW is that the TF on the bypass? When you say "quiet" do you mean dead or sort of Friday night quiet?popeyewhite said:

Which one sounds like a better idea...?

No showers? Went to ‘my’ David Lloyd gym earlier for a swim and the showers were all open, no saunas or steam room though. Pool was dead quiet, about 4 people lane swimming instead of the usual dozen or so.
They’ve moved some machines onto the inside tennis courts so I’ll see what they’re like in the next few days hopefully,

- no showers
- no sauna
- no locker (temporary). so take your stuff with you
- water fountains were shut off
- they failed to mention the toilets were closed, both in person and on the app. so take a dump/slash before you leave.
come changed already. all of the above didn't bother me, but somewhere to change and piss would be nice. I don't need to shower as i cycle home.

My first visit back to PureGym earlier.
Nowhere near as busy as usual and it has also scared off all the bro boys (young guys who like train in groups of 3-4 and spend more time chatting than training) which was a huge bonus as well.
Happy for it to carry on like this for awhile.
Me too, I don't think it's as busy at my local. the bookings are 10min increments with up to 15 people for each 10minute slot. Most people seem to book on the hour (9pm, 10pm etc..) however at this time it's never more than half booked. Suprisingly the early 6.30am slot is the one that gets full up.. but it seems many people will cancel nearer to the time.Nowhere near as busy as usual and it has also scared off all the bro boys (young guys who like train in groups of 3-4 and spend more time chatting than training) which was a huge bonus as well.

My gym is next to my office, so I went to the council ran one close to where I live as it's the closest one to me I could find on a non-contract basis.
When using a plate I had to:
- disinfect it before I picked it up;
- disinfect it once I put it on the bar;
- disinfect it before taking it off the bar;
- disinfect it once I re-racked it.
Steps two and three seems a bit superfluous.

Pat your head twice
Turn around three times
Shout ‘Boom!’
Crouch down
Undo your shoe laces
Do your shoe laces back up
Say ‘I’m a good boy’
Then you can crack on with lifting.
It’s for your own safety and mine.

I think PureGym have got it right. They haven't changed much, just moved some things around to space them out more. It was busy enough at mine on Sunday but didn't really have to wait for anything.Nowhere near as busy as usual and it has also scared off all the bro boys (young guys who like train in groups of 3-4 and spend more time chatting than training) which was a huge bonus as well.

Someone at the gym has clearly misunderstood guidelines!When using a plate I had to:

Any council gym will be a complete ballache.
The management and staff use CV as an opportunity to show there operational skills.
Out come the ISO 9000 manuals
The BS 5750 books
The guide to best practice.
They’ll be competing with one another as to who has the safest operation.
Alas. They’ll have no customers but when has that ever mattered to your local Leisure Centre Mr Brittas

When you say "quiet" do you mean dead or sort of Friday night quiet?I washed my hands before leaving the gym anyway before all this as they always feel minging, just annoys me that people think it doesnt apply to them, best we can expect is not secreting blobs of Chewing Gum under weight benches.
I was feeble before but fook me, three or four months with no weights and I was pathetic, and my chest and back hurts like a bd.
So, went and rode up to the Anderton boat lift on my bike, did 41 miles after work, was lovely despite the headwind.
