They do help, a lot. I've got Vulkan neoprene ones and they keep my elbows nice a warm, it's that which helps
They help a lot with maintaining my form and anything that helps prevent injury is worth doing IMO.
I use these from Strength Shop...Triple ply.

Recommended if anyone is looking to buy.

Car booked in for an MOT at 2pm which is next door to my gym so I'll get session in while I'm waiting. Train while you wait!

I've got their Thor and Odin elbow sleeves from years back (the original striped ones); however, they're not just elbow sleeves, they're double and triple ply, so they can add quite a bit more to your lifts, more so if they're tight enough

First time I pressed 200kg was with the Odin wraps; mental that they added nearly 12kg onto my bench PB at that time; just through sleeves!

For every day sleeves, the Vulkan ones IMO are all that's needed; they don't add any benefits bar warmth

Good session last night doing chest and back. My bench presses are really coming on as are my incline dumbbell presses...Felt surprisingly strong and confident. Two exercises I used to struggle with.

Only gripe is while having nearly 2 weeks off, the gym has taken down walls, moved 80% of kit to different areas (grrrr) and although I can see what they are trying to do it's kinda lost it's flow...It's all a bit chaotic and up close and personal...I like a bit of space in-between machines.

Eager to see the finished product, the young owner has a good head on his shoulders and works very hard to build his gym so I hope his plan works because right now it's gone a bit sucky.
I had a similar experience with a gym that did a reorganization. It was expanded in size and somehow became a lot more cluttered with the same equipment. All the cardio equipment got bundled into stupid places, where it was basically unpleasant to use. The safety aspect also became much worse, with hazards all over the place (walk around a corner to encounter a moving machine, big metal bolts sticking out of low (head height) beams, narrow gaps between machines.

Result is that I moved elsewhere.

Agree, the first triple ply pair I bought were right at the limit of going up a size. They were proper tight to get on, did a great set then couldn’t get the fkers off! Panic mode kicked in as my arms went weird. My boy had to pull them off.

I’ve since bought the next size up and I can definitely feel the difference when pressing but at least I can get them off on my own.

A nice little session this afternoon, nothing crazy just smooth progress.

ISO Lat machine.
40kg x 10
50kg x 10
60kg x 10
70kg x 6
70kg x 6

Incline bench dumbbell
20kg x 10
22kg x 10
24kg x 10
26kg x 10
28kg x 10

Lat pull down single arm.
21.5kg x 10
28kg x 10
31.5kg x 10

Shameless gun pic as nobody about. hehe Sorry not sorry.

And the car passes its MOT.

Massive progress for me today. Was only meant to be hitting 165kg for triples. Lat pulldown was up quite significantly too and felt lightweight (baby!).

Mr Roper looking like an absolute specimen there.

Leg extension x 4
Lying leg curl x 3
Machine squat x 4 got more weight on from last week, up to 160kg in plates for 5 reps
Lunges with 20kg bag on shoulders x 2
Calf raise x 3

Awww, you guys. hehe

10 years dormant and 3 months putting in the work (blip aside) feels good….I feel really good. Which is something I haven’t said in years.

So I’m doing my ISO Lats….I could see this young guy doing bench presses but didn’t pay much attention. He came over and asked me to spot him. No problem, always happy to do it.
120kg loaded up. Now I must confess I thought it was a lot. Said he’ll do 3. Ok.

Did 2 unassisted.

I was properly impressed…Then he said his best is 140 for one. Again very impressed.

Then he said he’s 16.

Drop the fking mic!

Fair play to him!!

And fair play to you!!
I started back at the start of June, I'm not making as much progress as I'd like, but I'm getting in there and doing it, the same as everyone else on this thread.

Insta/YT is full of 16 yr olds geared up to the eyeballs, proper berry heads and hearts on the edge of explosion. I think most of them are probably in their 30s mind. It's awesome.

There's also a 15 yr old in my gym who's been training strongman for 3 months, can deadlift 250kg and got banned from playing rugby at school for being too aggressive. Different breed these days, I was a little weasel when I was 15.

Cheers, B. And you’re 100% right. Whatever it is you’re doing and whatever your goal…it’s the keep on keeping on that makes it happen. tiny improvements are massive.

Yeah, kid is a beast. I live in Wales and would bet my best mates bks that he’s a farmer. Proper farmer strength. Grrrrrr!

Oh yeah sorry I wasn't suggesting this guy was one of them, just made me think. Some people are built different.

I got up and was outside gym at 5am, but never felt it...and my rules are I get up early so I start the day doing something I enjoy...so I went home, had a bowl of porridge and a pot of chai masala tea with honey. Now, some say a bad day at the gym is better than nothing...but I don't. Had three decent mornings and I will get tomorrow! Must admit its getting harder going into a gym that has no heating before 5am every morning but pay day, gonna buy some cheap fleeces and some builders gloves...and maybe some long trousers...in preparation for next week. It was below zero INSIDE some days last year, real Rocky stuff...so I've done it before, just gotta get the mind set....eye of the tiger smile

Haha yes they can be a sod to get off; unfortunately both pairs for me now are too big; they slide on easy and slide off easier hehe But there's no need for them any more either; my heavy lifting days are done due to ongoing health issues... The way it goes!

And if that's the game; I'll chuck in a double biceps here too biggrin

Pardon the stupid look; I was blowing outta my arse after a hard 25min session the other night of pull ups and squats...

Not bad for someone that doesn't really put a lot of effort into training arms; they get trained through other lifts
