Officially one of your five a day.
That's what I said when I had my phone chat with the pharmacy provider - she seemed to be lacking a sense of humour though!

Have signed up today through a well known online pharmacy.

I am a multi ironman 70.3 and 140.6 athlete. Multi-endurance ultra cyclist. I am currently training for a 100km ultra run next year. I am what people refer to as mentally strong willed and resillient. I can run a half marathon or marathon right now without trepidation. Exercise makes me happy, it is my stress relief.

I am over 15 stone, i have depression, i commute long distances, i have a highly stressful job, i work long hours, i have high blood pressure, i am at risk of heart attack (genetic), i have asthama, and i have two young children and a wife who has a successful career. I am 42.

My diet and alchol consumption is horrendous, all driven through depression, stress, and lack of avaliable time. The more i train the more i eat, the more stress i take on the more i eat and drink for comfort, the more compressed i am for time i reach for processed food . The heavier i get the less i exercise or struggle to exercise, the heavier and unhealthier i get the more my depression is triggered which then creates food binges - all of this pushes my blood pressure up and risk of heart attack up.

I am 43 in the next week. I have taken a decision today to make a change in my life by accepting that i need help.

Let's see what happens.
Turned up today. Havent had the time or the balls to open up the package yet. Very excited, but also really scared of the needle.

Also thinking if i start, am i going to ruin xmas dinner when i only have four bites of a turkey.
Took it today at lunch. Pretty easy to do. Watched a YouTube video on how to prepare and use for some moral encouragement. Basically didn’t feel the needle at all.

Five hours on; Injection site is a little itchy. Food suppression is massive. Would have been tearing into the dinner I’ve made for the kids but I have no interest, and no interest in the dinner I’m making for myself as well.

Going to try and eat something and then run later on the running machine.

Game changer.

Drink plenty of water and stock up on protein bars. You need to focus on keeping protein high (and ideally getting some exercise) to minimise muscle loss if the suppression is that high already. Basically everything I eat is now filtered by ‘how much protein is in it?’

Perhaps buy some nuts, eat some eggs, get some cottage cheese, chicken?...... Whilst this may well be a great weight loss tool, surely the bigger issue is around food and relationships with food. Eating any old st and staying thin doesn't sound like progress to me.

Maybe I wasn’t clear, thanks for pointing it out. Protein bars as an infill - I really like the be natural ones you get from Sainsbury’s (other money grabbing multinationals are available).

I go big on grilled chicken in whole meal pittas with houmous and cucumber, tomato, beetroot as a meal.

Just found a good chilli recipe that is big on protein (add in skyr yoghurt to adjust heat)

Did a steak the other day and paired it with scrambled eggs.

Quinoa with roast sweet potato, broccoli and chickpeas as sides. Avocados. Lots of avocados - they’re my new craving for some reason.

Part of the miracle of this drug is it changes what food you want. I leaned into that hard. You could wave a chocolate bar in front of me and I’d have no interest, whereas before you’d probably have lost your arm up to the elbow in the rush.

31-ish hours in. Food noise is muted. Gut feels "hard", but isnt. Odd feeling.

Plain-ish chicken salad for dinner last night. Just a small bowl. Destroyed 4 chicken breasts. Had a large glass of malbec across the evening, would have destroyed the bottle.

Chappuccino and Porridge for breakfast, said no to the chocolate croissant chaser and the honey on the porridge.

Lunch was a fish finger wrap with salad. Had a cheeky couple of leftover fish fingers from the kids plates - without the bread. Would have destroyed two fish finger wraps covered in nandos sauce plus what was left of the kids food. Would have also picked at food all afternoon - cake etc.

Ran for 30 minutes on thre treadmill and burnt 500+ calories at 10 minute miles.

Got dinner for tonight - vegetables & potatoes and beef bourguignon. Normally would have been pizza or something. Ignored he kids dinner - pizza etc. Would have detroyed that. Didn't get pudding or dips snacks before. Would have destroyed a bag of crisps with a tub of hummous. Likely would have also destroyed a bottle of wine this evening as well - not particulary interested in it, but the wife want's a glass of prossecco with dinner later so will share one with her.

Weighing several times a day and taking blood pressure. 132/94 blood pressure, 14st 11.4lb's this evening before dinner. Energy levels seems fine.

My PA is on them. She is one of those “I have tried all the diets and none work” types which just means a lack of will power and not wanting it enough.

I don’t think she is exercising

She said she has lost 1 stone and just upped the dose as per the instructions, she went home early this week as was feeling very ill.

Weird how we have lots of people talking about their employees experiences without really having any knowledge about it. Without being rude, get a life.

If other peoples experiences are like mine my employees are also my friends. So we talk.
As such we have clear first hand information as to how they are doing, including any negative aspects.
Posting here is simply to give others information to help them make an informed judgement on the use of these drugs.

Who says we don’t have knowledge about it? I researched it with a Dr friend of mine and the employee is very open about it. Maybe the life getting is on you for getting bothered by it?

Why the fk are you weighing several times a day.....just relax, exercise, eat better and let it work. It's not a diet, if it's a diet then when you stop the jabs you will get fat again.

Treat this process as an opportunity to lose weight but more importantly a chance to change how you behave with food and a chance to see first hand that you normally eat far more than your body wants or needs.

I've just finished my second month of treatment, have followed my own advice above and lost around 2st
I'm going to do one more round and then try to maintain naturally from there.

I was discussing this with the person I know and explained that it should be good to break bad habits and change food tastes plus addiction to sugar….kind of a reset.

Why is it weird? I was at dinner with my friend, the Dr, and he mentioned that he was on the injections as he is pre diabetic so I asked him all about it seeing that one of my employees was about to start them, he seemed satisfied that they were safe.

I would say there are some weird replies on this thread. Remember, when you point a finger at someone there are normally 3 of your own fingers pointing back at you.

Oh my gosh, how clever. Boy do I feel put in my place now with some fingers pointing my way.

I don't understand you're 'input' on this thread. You stated your PA was basically lazy with no willpower and you discussed this with a Dr. Did you accuse him of being the same?

What's the relevance of your employee being on it or did you just want to say something?

Reached the point where i was unhappy about my weight but with two small kids, one of is medically complex & a both wife & i working long hours, gym was never a realistic thing, nor was skipping takeaway. Most of the weight i gained was when i lived in hospital for 6 months while docs were saving the boys life. My wife did the same.

Zepbound for 6 months and we both lost 20kg - a decade’s weight gain. More energy, less heartburn and GI issues, would reccomend.

Might give it a go in the new year, sort of makes me think its like a reverse steroid, i.e. a bit of a helping hand that makes things easier but still needs some effort.

Have done it before, and its not all gone back on but worth a try for what it costs.
