Perhaps you are hungry. A bowl of shreddies and a slimfast doesn't sound like much. How active are you? I think the key thing is not to just stop eating, but eat better.
As someone with insulin resistance that is two foods i would never touch, its a tonne of carbs, either of them tiggers an insulin response massive hunger eating event in meI dont get an insulin response on Huel / Huel black edition, although they are 400 cals a bottle
I have just ordered some barebells shakes which are under 200 cals a bottle and 24g protein and only 13g of carbs, only £13.50 for an 8 pack at nitrostore with a points discount of 20%

Massive hypocrite here after simply replacing food with beer.
Yeah you are probably right. Perhaps I’ve cut back too much. I work from home and this is half the battle I sit in front of a computer all day and don’t move.Perhaps you are hungry. I need to take one day at a time and not rush this….
It's been 2 years since realising I needed to make a change. One of the most effective was focusing on getting a good serving of protein in with each meal, including breakfast. I had started putting a lot of work in at the gym and increased my protein consumption to fuel it, but the effect it had on my appetite was amazing. Having a breakfast with 40+g protein shut off my appetite for snacking through the day and even lasted through the evening! I stopped cooking a pile of pasta with dinner, it took no willpower, I just wasn't hungry.
Reading the effect these jabs are having, so much of it sounds like what I experienced without them. I'm not hungry, easily passing on snacks, and avoiding or reduced alcohol when going out. Even junk/fast food adverts looked unpleasant.
I appreciate my experience is probably at the stronger end of effectiveness, but have I heard a lot of similar stories online.

We've all been conditioned to eat a huge amount of refined carbs, basically sugar, for breakfast. Try swapping the shreddies for something more nutritious. My usual breakfast is a large omelette with some cheese or ham and it easily gets me through the day (no jabs for help).

And this is why I hope maintenance is going to work for me. MJ gave me the head space to change eating habits and jettison the sugar / junk addiction. Only one way to find out I guess (once I knock this last 11 lb on the head. 68lb down as of this morning, 11lb to go…It's been 2 years since realising I needed to make a change. 1st pic I’d already lost 8lb and strength training a few months. Started the jab because I couldn’t stop the picking. The bacon, the pastry, the beer etc
I’m now 6 months into my training, 2.5 months on the jab. It’s given me head space to see progress but also make better choices. I found 5mg to be my sweet spot. Supression gets lower week by week and that suits me fine. I’m now on the road of managing weight and choices Weight loss is slower but my energy and will power is higher.
It’s not a cure. It’s a reset.

Mr R, that's great progress. I drip into this thread now and again because I keep thinking about this for myself, and the Mrs would like it...might see how she goes and do a month each, off and on, minimise any psychological dependence? I'm 20st and 6ft, got down to 17st previously, zero weight training and lots of running, cycling and calorie counting but I want to maintain muscle this time...your pics are proof that you can do that, keep it up!! 1st pic I’d already lost 8lb and strength training a few months. After lurking on this thread since it started I've just bit the bullet and ordered a starter dose of Mounjaro from MedExpress. The full length photo was pretty sobering. My BMI is 32 so I shouldn't have any problem passing the fat photo test.
I also had a big plate of oven chips with lots of salt and tomato sauce for my lunch. This is what I'm hoping to avoid going forward.Dave Hedgehog said:

No offence to the OP but it’s remarkable that people get to the point of taking medication for weight loss but somehow miss knowledge that starting the day with a bowl of carbs is a bad idea. Most of my family still start drinking orange juice when they’re on a health kick and think they’re being healthy!Edited by Dave Hedgehog on Tuesday 18th February 11:27
Promise I’m not being an a

So I lost nothing last week, I didn't exercise all week and towards the end of the week, let myself down with food choices! So renewed focus this week and already back on the exercising track.
So far I have gone from 101.6kg down to 92.1kg in 7 weeks.
I'm on the 5mg and last week was pretty crap for feeling bloated / bunged up!

hole. I’m trying to make the point that very basic nutritional knowledge could save a ton of people needing to take meds.
Oh they all know. They just can’t help themselves. That’s human nature and I thought what this drug was supposed to kill almost immediately. Promise I’m not being an a

Well, I thought I would share my news as I just got off the phone from my surgery.
I am a T2 diabetic and my HBA1c reading in Sept 2023 was 93. (and for me they wanted it below 48)
I am prescribed 7.5 Mounjaro from the diabetes nurse which started in Oct 2024 and had my blood work done in Jan of this year.
I am ecstatic that my reading is now 47 ! I've lost 5kg and feel so much better. I am not as worried about the relatively small amount of impact it's had on my weight but rather the dramatic effect it's had on my sugar levels.
I hope that if I continue down this path then maybe, just maybe, we can talk about coming off Metformin which would be ace

Has anyone missed their weekly cycle of injecting? I messed up, normally take Fridays and last week I thought I had one final shot left but when I checked on Friday realised I had used it already. So I ordered straightaway, but it only arrived today. So, what to do? Just take it and realign to a new Tuesday weekly cycle? Or wait till Fri and carry on?

Use willpower and wait a couple of days if Friday suits?FishAndChips said:

General advice is on most provider’s websites. For example: https://support.medexpress.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles...Weekly weigh in results
3 stone 3lbs in 12 weeks
Lots of walking and not eating before noon or after 7pm
The odd 24 hour fast.
Mrs just tried it 5lb in a week
Nothing but praise for it from me. It’s fantastic
I like the fact every few weeks there’s a milestone in either lbs or kgs. So i switch between the two
I’m under no illusion it’s a long term thing and I have to keep it off.
I reckon I will aim for another 5 stone.
I’ve a lot to loose but i reckon I’ll be there by autumn

I got a random text off the GP yesterday asking me to submit a 7 day BP diary. I'm 36 and have had borderline HBP in the past. Over the years weight has gone from 120kg down to 68kg, up to 85kg and sitting at about 100kg, I am a lot more muscular at 100kg than I was at 120kg but still its a concern.
I'm wondering if they do decide I'm borderline HBP again if the quickest fix for them will be to put me on one of these injections, I'm a shift worker with young kids, I know about nutrition as I used to compete but will power is low at the moment, tbh Alcohol is my main downfall not food.

CONGRATULATIONS! That's an amazing loss. I've said the same thing repeatedly here, but it's so nice to hear how the changes have improved people's lives - not just health, but their wellbeing. Feeling better, more energy, upbeat, energised etc. Keep up the great work!
Onto week 3 now, just took my 3rd jab, will get the next pen (moving up to 5mg) ordered tomorrow when I've been paid. Been keeping track of my weight / injection days with shotty, initially started on a Friday (basically as soon as I received the pen) but have gradually moved it to Wednesday as it better suits my schedule.
Week one I injected right before going to bed and when I woke up the next day and for a couple of days after I felt no urge at all to eat. Food noise gradually returned. The second shot feels like it didn't really do a huge deal compared to the first however I'm wondering if I somehow managed to not do it right as I've got a big bruise where I injected that shot but nothing for the first one.
I still think it was reducing the food noise though as even though I've had some moments of weakness I've definitely found that I am eating a lot less. Did have some junk food on Monday and regretted it yesterday. Just took shot 3 this morning so let's see how this gets on.
My weight is down 4.3kg currently and it's dropped my BMI from 37.9 to 36.8.
The only thing I've really found as a side effect is my libido seems to be reduced quite a lot, not that I'm actually complaining haha.
I've found once or twice when I've been hungry I'm absolutely ravenous rather than just a bit peckish. On the whole though it's definitely having a positive effect on me.
Still live with my parents and so far not told them I'm taking it as I can see them being quite funny with me about it. Once I'm a bit further down the line with it and hopefully having lost a good amount more of weight that's when I'll consider telling them.

Using me as the example, I come from a family of generations of farmers and teachers, all of whom were brought up on 3 square meals a day and latterly rationing. Food was on the table at 7am, 1pm and 6pm every day and woe betide you if you were late or didn't clear your (large) plate. 57 years of eating like that is a VERY hard habit to break, especially when you add in that in my 40s not eating on time would trigger debilitating migraines.
