The Official Liverpool FC Thread [Vol 17]

If you haven't seen this yet, it's only on iplayer for a short time now. 90 min doc about Shankly - Nature's Fire. Watched this afternoon. Not alluded to in the doc but I can see some parallels with how Klopp is running the team - the "all in it together" ethos he is creating mirrors what Shankly created. Although Shanks would probably hate the way the game is now, he was a product of his time, not this time.

Kinda underlines the "2 sides to every story" angle, rather. LFC were hardly ever going to start dealing from scratch with a 3rd party agent jumping in on the deal (if indeed, that's true). What a mess, football is.
I get that but fast forward to window he halfed for 16mil He is worth a st load more than 16m fit and only Betis were in for him...
I don't think a new agent causes those issues

Yup, and IMO he was tailer made to replace Eriksen at Spurs (Levy loves this type of deal too), even at Utd he'd be an upgrade on the likes of Lingard and has more in the tank than Mata. Plenty of Premier League sides that would be improved by signing him and I imagine most of them should have been willing to pay £20-30m for him. But no one did!
Which says a lot. When even a mediocre player is £30m, the clubs know something we don't. £17m is a steal on paper.
