While trying to actually find our record against new managers on their first game (though Freddie came up a lot as the answer) found this article where Arteta is 9th best manager in premier league history for points per game

https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/arsenal-manager-m...

Though, I detect a slight bias to the authors descriptions of each rofl

Good find thanks for sharing. I like the affectionate reference to Conte as a 'cantankerous sod'.

Vieira sacked as Palace manager, oh goody another bounce back team
Sad to see PV4 lose his job. Seems like his coaching staff are leaving too and Palace haven’t got anyone lined up yet….so the new manager bounce might wait a few days yet. Fingers crossed….

He's played a blinder by deflecting all the blame to the players and owner while the Spurs fans lap it up as he's come out and said what they were thinking so he's stood up to the owners and is on the fans side.

If he gets sacked it will be because he stood up to the owners, not that he constantly plays 5 at the back with 2 defensive mids along with the most boring and predictable soak up pressure and hit on the break tactics that they've ever seen there.
Subbing on defenders for attackers when chasing games.
Winning the summer transfer window after spending £150m+ on players that have all been flops.

Truth is the guy is a short term cheque book manager, needs ready made experienced players for his style to win and goes off on every owner when he doesn't get his way then leaves.

I make that 2 serial winners Arteta has seen off now

“The Eagles have not been beaten at the Emirates on any of their past four visits, drawing three and winning one”

Hopefully players remember how to pass to each other for this match

The first of 11 finals is the saying coming out of The Arsenal - agree with the meaning but hoping it’s over before the last game - in a positive way of course!

Have to think it’s a must win game today - then the interlull which gives Saliba a bit more recovery time!

C’mon you Gunners

Not a happy stat at all.

I reckon we have to win every game left, even the City one, as I can't see City losing. Of course, I've been saying that all season and we're still at the top, so clearly I know less than nothing.

Interesting read this morning ahead of the game - http://www.premierleague.com/news/3113078

The thing that leaps out at me was the following stat

Jesus still top 5 despite nearly half the matches.

Sold half. More of the same next half, would love some Jesus game time and a cheeky goal from him too.

Same points tally as last season with 10 games to go. Lets go. 99 points total incoming biggrin

Of course, I don't think we'll actually win all 10 games, but hey, nice to dream.

PL fixtures between now and April are all bottom half clubs other than Palace who we’ve already had an away result over.
All being well we can find our feet and a load of points.

By contrast, City have European/FA Cup games plus Newcastle.
Hmm not sure I share your confidence...
25/2 Leicester City (A) random result generators
1/3 Everton (H) who only beat us away the other w/end
4/3 AFC Bournemouth (H) who just won away at Wolves
9/3 Europa (A) team tbc
12/3 Fulham (A) who just beat Brighton
16/3 Europa (H) team tbc
19/3 Palace (H) who know which Palace will turn up- nearly turned over Brentford today

I think this season more than any other has shown that the betting syndicates, dodgy VAR, poor on pitch officials, EPL can generate some unpredictable results, plus everyone gets to kick Saka out of the game so who knows what will happen by the end of March,
+15 points
+12 goals

A shame about Europe but I feel we’ve been outstanding on the whole, really enjoying this time and looking forward to April.

Lucky enough to go today (bank balance might not agree smile )...love going to watch games live as you get to see so much more. As a team were were superb today, front to back the whole team played really well. Holding came in and did a great job, was really good in the air, apart from one of his typical wrestling matches towards the end he did really well. The football we play in the final third is just sublime, the way the team move the opposition around is really a site to behold. That triumvirate of Saka, Odegaard and White caused Palace massive problems all afternoon...you can see what's coming but they create so much pressure and the passing is so precise the opposition just can't do anything...they know if they go to mark White's overlap then Saka will be off in the channel etc. It's almost mesmerising to watch !

Jeez this could go SO wrong....

There was a moment today, Sakas second. Brought back in an instant, memories of Adams goal in 98, a flying thumper of a goal against Everton ( yes I had to google, it's been so long since, but I will never forget that goal) That was the point, you know you deserve the title. Icing on the cake from the skipper.

Anyways, this is first time I felt, this could be it.

That moment it all works out.

Yes by that point in 98, the League was pretty much wrapped up, not so today.

But it was just that feeling.....Weird, but good.

Sorry I don't know how to word it better.

And ffs sorry if, well you know.....

( city were a first division side at the time hehe oh how a blank cheque book would help in the future)

9/4 Liverpool (A) random result generators

Having been down this road before I think taking the 10 cup final matches left is the right attitude, as soon as you walk in thinking "its' only x" we've won this, you get a Bournemouth scare and not many other teams will give you the chance to get back into the game. Many will remember our international hang overs, so lets hope for that all our players come back.

Some interesting stats for EPL:
Arsenal have 69 points from 28 matches- this equals our finishing total points for last season (21/22).
We have scored 66 goals so far this season- this already 5 more than the entirety of last season (61).
That was our 22nd Premier League win of the season- this matches total won last season
This is the most ever wins in the first 28 matches of a league campaign
