That handball decision was laughable. That would have been a penalty even back in the day!
Anyone who argues that it wasn't a penalty after seeing the VAR is either a moron or a very bitter twisted individual. However in the course of the game did anyone think it was ? So before Var it wouldn't have been a penalty because it wasn't spotted.
Thing is regardless of whether or it is or isn't a PEN, we need to win games in normal time and not look to rely on these decisions going your way. As before over the course of a season decisions will even themselves out across a seasons, VAR or no VAR - this is football its always been this way.
The way that you overcome 50/50 decisions going against you is to play well and score in normal play something that we are struggling with again of late

Watch it back. McTominay absolutely poleaxes Mount and United get the free kick!

This is right, but when the likes of lampard, klopp and dickh3ad keys and Gray start going on about how many penalties united get (although a few teams have got a few more than us this season) and then suddenly decision after decision goes against us you have to question are referees being influenced ? United have tried to quieten down what Shaw said in his interview, but if it's true this is a huge issue that refs are being compromised. The way that you overcome 50/50 decisions going against you is to play well and score in normal play something that we are struggling with again of late
These are big decisions in game after game recently ,and it's the timing of them, coming after certain managers and pundits complaining.

Maguire has said Dimwit Shaw misheard the conversation. Yes, it should have been a penalty. But it just makes up for one of the times Fernandez has thrown himself to the floor in the box in the past to win one.
Even if you were right you would still be arguing then that 2 wrongs make a right.uk66fastback said:

That's the stance United will have told him to take so Shaw doesn't land himself in st with the FA. It would be up to Maguire to come out and accuse the ref of saying that as he was the one to hear it allegedly.jonamv8 said:

This is no place for your common sense approach to the issue. The way that you overcome 50/50 decisions going against you is to play well and score in normal play something that we are struggling with again of late

So you think that Shaw heard it correctly and that the club have asked Maguire to say that? I find that harder to believe than the fact he never gave it in the first place! Why would Shaw get in the st for saying it if it is the truth. If it was said, Maguire should confirm it ...
we don't know what shaw heard, but the club have acted to ensure shaw is not charged with bringing the game into disrepute as has been said.Frimley111R said:

What's the consensus for tnight, we desperately need to get back to winning ways and more importantly creating 4/5 chances a game.
What's the betting TonyM starts...........

A must win tonight for no other reason than to get back to winning ways if we are to have chance of anything in the cup comps.
Cavani might be back, his absence has also highlighted we need a world class forward soon.
Yep, I don't care if it's a scrappy one niller. We have to win and keep out of the top 4 scrap as much as possible Cavani might be back, his absence has also highlighted we need a world class forward soon.
