It's just like players - once they get a bit old and past it they're willing to go to any random club that will give them a bit of money.

Surprised he's going to "a small club".
Their net spend is consistently higher than ours.

Don’t mind if he goes there really, probably a good fit

Ramos doing what Ramos does.

35 years old, Covid impacting clubs finances and he has a contract offer on the table but it's not good enough.

Hope he has fun in China for a couple of years.

Ultimately he's so wealthy he doesn't have to work again but loves a challenge. Everton would certainly be a challenge. And he still gets to wake up in his own bed every morning. If I was him I'd be going all out for it.

I'm not sure the Everton fans will enjoy how defensive he set his team up at times. Nor the predictable substitutes on the hour mark.

Everton were once asked whether they would be better playing Moneyball. They said they'd never heard of him and immediately offered £40m.

It appears they literally can't pay someone to want to be a manager of Spurs at the moment!

Didn't the decision come from Spurs this time, once they knew Gattuso had left Fiorentina? Or his leaving was linked perhaps, who knows. Fonseca was said to be very disappointed.

EDIT. Ah, as of this morning Gattuso isn't being considered. It was Spurs who pulled out though. They're in a mess!

It's such a big project there now without the budget to match, poisoned chalice.

Agree it’s a tough gig

Fantastic stadium and facilities but the financial benefit from that got scuppered by Covid, and they had to take another loan. Will be a good decision in the (very) long term but short term there won’t be much money.

Add an aging and average squad and the star wanting out and a tight arse chairman and it’s not a great recipe.

They need a smart manager who can buy cheap young upcoming players, actually thought Nuno might do ok for them - seems to be able to buy good Portuguese players at bargain prices.

That was due to Mendes connection at Wolves I think rather than Nuno

W..T...A..F... I read an article recently about who we sold last Summer and how they were promising youngsters being sold on and not the deadwood - as they were easier to find a buyer for and we needed the income...and how we can't allow that to happen again. And here we are doing it again. Yay...

None of those 3 are in the Euros shop window I guess

Neco is not likely to break into first team, but is decent and oding well for Wales

We might get £50m for Shaq rofl

It's not surprising - almost no youngsters make it into the top PL teams. Think how many times we've had "great kids" coming up, yet a few years later they've disappeared never to be seen again - not just with us, but even at other clubs. Kids coming through the academy and making it into the first team as regulars is the exception.

Of course we'll have some of the older players for sale, but why would we have lots of buyers for them - corona hit budgets, signing older players who maybe have a few good years, and for example with Keita seem very injury prone. They'd also need the same or better wages to move in most cases, so that's not likely to happen at many clubs. I'd much rather take a chance on a kid, unless the old player is super cheap.

I agree with NRS. We've had Trent, Curtis looks like he'll become a good squad player (but yet to see if he'll be genuine first XI quality), and I have high hopes for Harvey.

Everyone else is unlikely to be good enough. Put it this way. If Neco Williams was playing for another team, it's unlikely any of us would be saying he looks like a potential star and we should try and grab him.
