Simon, If somebody comes to me with a car they had EcuTek mapped just a few months ago or whenever, spent the full money on having it done, don't want the original mapper to tweak it for whatever reason, and don't want to have to spend big bucks again to get another full remap from a different EcuTek mapper just because he's changed the headers or uppipe, or wants to use 10% or 20% meth or whatever, so long as the car generally runs ok, and the mapping once i,ve read it looks ok, then i'm happy to tweak it where required, if that's all the customer really wants.

I'm not going to turn down a customer or their money unless there are extenuating circumstances such as.....I look at the mapping and decide it's actually a bloody mess as often happens, then i'll say it needs a full remap and the customer can decide what they want to do, or the car is a shed, full of problems that will cost bucks and time to fix, and where a remap or tweaks will have no effect because the car is buggered.

However, my preference is to start from scratch every single time with my own base map not derived from an old hashed up Prodrive ROM that seems to come up so many times!! That way i know what's going on from the start because it's my mapping, especially when that same customer comes back to me sometime down the line for more tweaks.

P.S. I was always genuinely under the impression you guys couldn't alter each others mapping on any given ECU because EcuTek deemed a tuners work was his livelihood and therefore shouldn't be able to be copied and plagiarised by another tuner. When did this change??

You can easily pull a Ecutek map off and alter it with third party software , dunno about Ecutek itself

I had a Ecutek map on my Evo , cost the previous owner £600 or thereabouts , was just a generic map with the boost maxxed out thanks to a leaky dunp valve!!

Are you trying to say that only ecutek maps can be like that?

I have seen plenty of horrors full stop

I've come across some interesting Open Source maps too that were equally as bad, not just EcuTek. Sorry Simon, i didn't mean it to sound that way.
