Offset axles on a trailer?
Discussion
I am adapting a Cherry Picker from a four wheel base trailer to one that can be towed behind a car, however I still wish to be able to get it through a 1.1m gateway.
This will mean constructing axes that will extend in and out from the centre-line.
Is there any problem with having axles that are not equidistant from the towing point and are about 6 inches apart? Would turning the suspension units round on one side affect the way it behaved in a dangerous manner as that would be one way of making them equal? (ie having two left or two right units).
I have posted about the axle before but got no answers, any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a question to ask a specialist trailer manufacturer who could give you answers as to whether it's even feasible & what legal obstacles you might face.
