Long story short, some Mercedes seats have modules don’t like to go to sleep and drain the battery. My E55 suffers from this. I could buy two new modules for £340 but there’s also a fix that involves cutting the constant power and connecting that wire to the switched power supply- loads of guides online for this.

Typically the guides are for a C class and show a ground, constant and switched power all of the same gauge. Looking in my car, the constant wire is of the same gauge as in the C Class videos, but the switches power and ground are much thinner.

If I cut the constant and connect to the switched power wire with a snap blade tap connector, is that going to be dangerous? I’m no electrician, but surely it could overload the thinner wire?

Thanks for any advice and avoidance of fires/melting components etc!

I think what Chris was trying to say there is that the low power switching circuit for the relay (small wires) will likely come from a switched live which then open circuits the relay switching the high power circuit off for the seats that is perfectly acceptable, just make sure it is fused for safety.
