The alternator on our BMW mini cooper 2009 model is giving up and needs to be replaced soon.
I have looked at Europarts for the replacement and they offer two differing amp outputs.
150amp at a cost of £450
120amp at cost of £260.

Both alternators are RTX brand. My question is can I get by on the 120amp output?
Our car is standard as factory with A/C.
Thanks.

I would fit whatever size you have currently. I think those may be exchange units anyway.
(P.s. don’t forget the ECP discount code as prices are actually lower than you quote).

I’d fit anything but rtx as they generally don’t last long. I’ve seen rtx rotating electrical part not last a day a few times
Just a heads up.
And the mini can be a bit of a pain to do due to lack of access I’d only want to be doing it once.

I bought a used (genuine) one for £25 delivered. It was 120amp one as that's what it has. Standard Mini Cooper with Stop Start.
