Following on from Purpletutle asking "What are people's plans for 2021 then?" I thought it merited a new thread...as there's not much else going on at the mo.

We were hoping to go down to the south of France in May/June but that's looking increasingly unlikely now. Therefore it'll be Cornwall and Devon outside of school half term/holidays.

We are more optimistic of getting across to Italy in September. We'll head down to Lake Iseo for a couple of weeks. Nothing beats lake swimming.

Aside from that it'll be UK sites I suspect: Cheltenham and Cirencester to see friends and family when we are allowed and maybe a few coastal sites in Wales.

Are you folks finding campsites already booked up/busy?

We have booked 2 weeks in Cornwall in early July. Meant to be going to Le Mans for the 24 Hours in June although seems unlikely that spectators will be allowed.

Off to Devon in June but we’ll see.

I normally do last minute stuff with the van or just turn up and see what’s available but apparently everyone’s staycationing this year so we booked up. Most pitches already gone by the time we booked eek

I am planning a tour of Scotland for this year.

Feeling the lack of freedom this year more than last, usually i would have been off twice already, skiing in mine.

And had a euro summer trip already booked to look forward to.

Booked ferry to Cherbourg for late July. Postponed from last year - so fingers crossed.

Live in Cornwall so tend to do quite a few things locally. Have plans to do a bit of a European trip at some point (never been abroad in our van) but assuming it’s not happening this year.

But so far booked a few weekends at the local reservoir (son has a dinghy there and we paddle board etc). Only 25 mins away but away is away. Also a couple of other local places booked for weekends.

Combined with two weeks over summer in New Forest and a few sites as we travel back home.

All in 26 nights booked so far.

I booked the Chunnel last August for our annual trip down to Spain in January this year. We normally go jan-March...we should be there now frown

Obviously the trip was cancelled and we have until 31/08 to use the tunnel or else the ticket expires. As we don't head anywhere abroad when it's too hot or in school holidays, we might lose this one unfortunately.

If allowed to travel we should be able to perhaps use the outward bit by 31/08 which would be something I guess...

You have up to 31/8 to rebook and you can book up-to 12 months in advance so your ticket is useable to 29/08/22 so you could book Jan- March next year

I originally booked on 31/08/20 and was under the impression that I had to take the trip within a year of that date...i.e by 31/08/21..so this year.

Are you saying I only have to re-book by 31/08 this year and they will extend it for another year?

I was under the impression that it all had to be done and dusted within a year of original booking.

Mid May Bikepacking (wild camping) West of Scotland no booking needed phew.

June half term sites booked - 2 around Chichester harbour

Last week June 1st week July - booked 11 nights Cornwall, need to add a few day stop over perhaps Cheddar/Wells

Last week August 1st week Sept drive down through Germany and Alps to Livigno & Stelvio - postponed a year

SOME of this at least has to happen, surely!

Give them a call ! They seem to be extending beyond the original terms - I booked for Easter 2020 in January 2020 my ticket supposedly would have expired in January 2021 I phoned up and they gave me a credit voucher for 1 year

extract from their email below

"we would like to confirm the details of your voucher* to the value of X GBP for use with your next ticket purchase made directly with Eurotunnel Le Shuttle. Your voucher number is CVxxxxx and is valid for redemption by 2022-01-25.

When booking with our Contact Centre, you will be asked for random characters from your surname in order for this voucher to be redeemed. For full Terms and Conditions for this voucher, please refer to the bottom of this email.

Please note that although your voucher needs to be redeemed by the above date, it can be used for travel after this time. "

That's useful - thanks.

As mine was bought using Tesco vouchers I'll have to see if they are as generous biggrin

I'll still check when i ring them regarding this however looking at their terms and conditions, standard tickets can be amended but "...For travel to be completed within 1 calendar year of the date of original purchase"

https://www.eurotunnel.com/Eurotunnel/files/ff/ffb...

Therefore I think we'll probably end up being able to use half the ticket if we travel out prior to 31/08 and I'll have to pay for a single back from France.

Just a week booked in the New Forest so far.

I want to book a small (possibly inland) site in Cornwall during the school summer holidays, so that we can visit beaches by day, but stay away from the hordes at night. My experience of North Cornwall as a kid is that many of the beaches have a large tidal reach, so when the tide is out there is acres of space to socially distance, even when 'busy'. Obviously I would need to check tide times ....

However, Mrs PT is adamant that Cornwall will be absolutely rammed this year so is refusing to go. Things are not helped by this evening me (shielding, immune condition) receiving an email from the NHS saying 'extend shielding until 31st March'. I appreciate the concern, but it's really hard being an outdoorsy type of person who is ostensibly healthy but just on a certain type of medication. Sigh.

Might look at Jersey; my brother lives there, it has a couple of fabulous sites that I have stayed at before, but will be subject to whatever Covid restrictions are in place by summer.

We've booked a week In the lakes at Easter, week in the Peaks during May half term and a week in Wales over Aug bank hol. I'm about to sort 2 weeks out in Scotland late July which will be in place of a rescheduled trip to France/Germany from last year. All 3 sites couldn't give refunds due to the fact they were open (we couldn't get a ferry) but did offer discounts on the stay which meant it would almost cover the lost deposits. Sadly they can't keep offering so we will lose that. Don't think Euro will be on the cards this year. Plan to do a few weekends in Yorkshire and Northumberland over the year where I can. I suspect last minute trips won't be an option though as they'll be fairly full.

We decided not to book anything yet until the future is a little clearer. Its a risk re availability but as we are not tied to school holidays, we can go anytime.

We tend to go to adult only sites in July/August anyway.

We would be away now in Spain. I had paid deposits on 2 sites and they both agreed to hold them until next winter. It looks likely that we may lose half our tunnel booking unless we can get away May/June (unlikely) but as its paid for with Tesco vouchers in effect it's not a huge loss in hard monetary terms.

Following the optimistic announcements yesterday I booked us 20 days in Cornwall and Devon earlier. It's not until June so fingers crossed.

Hopefully we can get away sooner than that but we'll have to see how it pans out in the next month or so.

It's something to look forward too at long last smile

Looks like April 12th is freedom day?

Haven’t booked anything earlier than June but I’m going to try and get a few days here and there before then if nothing else to make sure the van is all functioning correctly. Been stored all lockdown and not been able to visit it let alone run it up and down the motorway to keep the batteries charged.

Was it plugged in at the storage place?

We are fortunate as ours it at home so I plug it in every 2-3 weeks or so...just for a couple of days. I booked my habitation check yesterday for the end of March, so it'll get its first run since December, then.
