Went for a cycle around Moreton this morning. Visited St Nicholas’ Church which has some very interesting windows. I also visited the grave of T E Lawrence, which is just across the road from the church.
I’m going to have a look for the RAF Warmwell memorial this afternoon.

Some pictures from my Moreton trip -

The river and ford at Moreton village.

St Nicholas' Church Moreton - the stained glass windows were added in the 1950s during a complete rebuild of the church. The church was very badly damaged during a Luftwaffe raid on nearby RAF Warmwell in 1941 and was reconstructed in the 1950s. All the original stained glass windows were blown out by the bombs.

In the adjacent graveyard is the final resting place of T E Lawrence - Lawrence of Arabia. He was killed in a motor cycle accident only a couple of miles from Moreton -

Although RAF Warmwell closed very soon after World War 2, there is lots of evidence around showing its existence - including more street names and community centres -

Geek points are available for anyone who can identify the two versions of the Spitfire shown on the banner which was attached to The Spitfire Centre.

There is also a nice memorial to those who lost their lives operating at or out of RAF Warmwell -

I finally found some actual airfield structures still in existence - although this one was quite far away and my picture is not quite in focus. The picture shows a standard 1930s pattern RAF hanger and a Nissen Hut. I presume these are being used today for storage.

The old base cinema is now serving as the village hall for Crossways -

Next trip coming up - the Camping and Caravan Club site at Adgestone, Isle of Wight. Really looking forward to it. I'll be taking my bike and exploring some of the disused railway lines that proliferate on the island. Beeching did a very good job on the Isle of Wight.

@Eric MC - nice photos - thanks for sharing thumbup

Just back from 23 nights away in Cornwall and Devon. Great break but was amazed at how many kids of school age were there when it was definitely not half term! Over 50a t one stage at one campsite. Poor parenting (and in some case, grandparenting) I reckon: haven't they missed enough schooling???

Anyway, 2.5 weeks to go until our next trip: 26 nights touring north Wales biggrin

Currently at the Camping and Caravan Club site at Adgestone, Isle of Wight. The weather has been very odd. Some days warm and sunny - but also some heavy rain.

Just back from Cromer. Mixed weather but a nice site right on the cliff tops. Did fk all to be honest but sometimes you just need to plug your van in and chill for a few days.

Just booked 5 nights in the Isle of Wight for September. Hopefully the weather will be ok but I intend to do a lot more exploring with the van this time.

I've been there a number of times so I can vouch for it as a decent site. If you have stayed on a Camping and Caravan Club site before, you will know what to expect as they all feature fairly standard amenities.

The site is actually about three miles from Devizes itself but it is a nice walk (or cycle) along the tow path all the way to Devizes. Devizes also is the home of the Wadworth Brewery so I'm hoping to pop in for a visit (and maybe a pint of 6X too).

There is a decent pub just outside the gates of the camp site (The Three Magpies) and there is another pub a mile in the opposite direction on the canal called The Barge Inn.

I guessed it would be fairly standard for the club, but always good to get the opinion of someone who has been there

Will check out the pub suggestions thanks

As Eric says it’s an excellent site that we’ve visited a couple of times. The walk along the canal to Caen Hill ( the 26 or so locks going up the hill are worth the trip on their own) and into Devizes is lovely and easy too. And also, as Eric also says, the pub just outside the camp - Three Magpies I think it’s called - is more than decent. It would be a surprise if you reported back you were disappointed. Enjoy smile

Our plans are slowing coming into focus, and will then accelerate into a joyous improvised mess once we collect out new Campervan next Tuesday.

Honestly haven't been so excited about something purchased in a long time.

Just back from my stay at Devizes. Had a lovely, relaxed time. Did a couple of modest cycle rides along the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath - one cycle to Bradford on Avon and the other to Devizes itself.

We've got next week at The Red Shoot at Linwood in The New Forest (fantastic independent site with a pub next door) then a week at home followed by a week at the Camping and Caravan Club site at Windermere.

The latter has been booked for a while, I've been wondering over the weather - holidays with a 6yo are a lot easier when it is dry - as every time I've been to the Lake District it has chucked it down. However, the forecast I saw last night for the third week of August is a heatwave, so I'm cautiously optimistic!

Wisdom needed if that is ok...

I used a small plugin module adapter before as car is 13 pin, van is 2x7 but I found the left indicator was temperamental... I thought it was the caravan at first but then had the same ona brand new light board

So I got a decent brand converter but it's a bit long now... What's a good way to sort?

I twisted the cable back over and around earlier then s cable tie to hold as a temporary measure earlier... Not sure that is best way tho?

I converted my 2 x7 pin. Caravans to 13 pin. Easy to do and a better connection to boot.
