I think these caravans have a great look. A mate in the UK said though that it can be problematic as certain sites don’t let them on due to being a favourite of the Dag Snatchers. Don’t know if that’s true.
Apparently there are issues using them in the U.K. for that very reason. Lots of sites refuse the German built vans. Also in the U.K. the biggest issue is the length limit meaning you can only pull them behind a commercial vehicle (3500kg and above) In Europe no such rules and they are quite a common sight on the roads. Tows beautifully too even in high winds. Sort of wishing my car was the diesel version now ?? Getting an indicated 21mpg (which is about the same as our old motor home)What do they do when German tourists arrive on site?
I'd be very interested to know if excluding people on that basis is even legal - imagine being told you couldn't park, for example, a Swedish car in a car park.
Back to the caravan - cracking looking thing OP; my parents also have a Hobby motorhome and the styling is very similar indeed with the swoopy black windows, back lights are the same too. The interior is identical too, but smaller. Great looking thing. They won't, sadly, lend it to me because I will "get drunk and vomit in it". Seriously? WTF?

Parents can be odd can’t they, mine won’t lend me their car when we come to the U.K “because I’ll crash it” Obviously rolling a car close to 20 years ago when I was 17 means that’s my MO and my driveway must be littered with rolled vehicles ??
Oh - I get that. My sisters drive my mums Yaris. It’s very battered “but it wasn’t them”. I’m not allowed to drive said Yaris. Evidently I have (and I quote) “a racing driver’s mentality and will rev the engine”.
I’m 53 years old.
It looks impressively wide.
Caravans are hot property at the moment in the UK.
I dropped lucky and picked up our new 6berth this morning and sold our aging 5berth this afternoon (for what I paid for it last year).
I was all set for a hobby but out put off by the door on the wrong side, pesky travelling rascal associations. A same but then the size of the damn things means I'd have needed a bigger car.

My son bought a new Hobby caravan last year and had trouble insuring it. One broker explained that's because the travelling fraternity love "borrowing" them. Only quote he could get was if he fitted a tracker and a serious deterrent. Probably not the same as where you are, but the travellers in UK cause all sorts of issues.
On a side track, mate had his caravan stolen from outside his home and tracker showed it was on a travellers site. Police said they wouldn't go and get it for fear of repercusions and they told him IF he retrieved it, they reckon it'd mysteriousy catch light a few days after. So he claimed on the insurance who didn't question the police's comments

That is a beauty! Really very nice. I must admit the British built vans seem to have more homely interiors and I would have liked one however getting parts and service on the continent could have been an issue for us. Caravans are hot property at the moment in the UK.

Enjoy and hope you have many happy holidays! Lovely van!
We are currently enjoying the blistering heat of the Welsh Riviera that is porthmadog and it's bloody great so far. The swift is great for us as a family of 5.
Had a little trip out today and we passed a Hobby dealers and I thought of this thread. They are great vans bit I can't get my head around how they would work on the serviced pitch I'm on now. Awning and door on nearside, all services come on/out on the offside. How does that work short of driving the van in tow hitch first on motor movers?

How are you going to manage when you take your caravan onto the continent when the opposite applies?Dog Star said:

How are you going to manage when you take your caravan onto the continent when the opposite applies?Believe it or not it was even possible to move caravans around before the advent of the motor mover - back in the 80s my parents had a mahoosive and very wide twin axle Caravelair (French). If you wanted it in in a funny direction, maneuvre between trees then you pushed it, usually people off adjacent pitches would lend a hand.
There does seem to be a certain element within the UK caravanning community who try to come up with reasons why euro caravans cannot be used in the UK or they'll encounter difficulties, conveniently forgetting that when they take their over-embellished, button upholstered UK van to the continent the exact same thing applies (or rather doesn't, since it's all cobblers). I sure I recall the NCC having something to say about the sale of them back in the day too - which was pure UK van industry protectionism.

So it's actually not the slightest issue at all, is it?

We've had a twin axle caravan for 8 years and never had a motor mover! Never had a problem. Sometimes it's tight and you have to in/out a bit and get it as far as you can, and then like you say give it a push! Normally manage on our own but campers are a friendly bunch so you only have to ask for help if you need it! My parents had a Lord Munsterland back in the early/mid 90s. I don’t recall that being too much of a problem but might now ask them.
I do however remember having the door on the other side and thought that was cool as it was different. I think there were one or two comments from little britain types but there was no way my dad was buying british cars or caravans at the time.
