I think you'll find it was John Prescott on his way to a end of day "2 for the price of 1" at Crispy Creme donuts

Bill Clinton flew into to Farnborough and blatted up the M3 to London in a high speed convoy of around 30 vehicles, all flown in from the USA.

I was heading the other way and thought I'd driven into a feature film - unreal.

Was that in 2001? I saw his helicopters land at Warwick when he visited the UK - a special path had been laid across a football pitch too!

I had to pull over in Blackpool when the Labour Party conference was on to let 2 police bikes, 2 black Range Rovers, a black Voyager, a police van, then 2 more police bikes go past.

I think that one was Tony Blair but I wonder how much safer these guys would be in a convoy of differently coloured Focus/Astras/Golfs etc?

I think out of that lot I'd be most afraid of the voyager! There again I may have read too many Andy McNab books....

Have to admit I haven't seen anything remotely exciting. If you see a hummer with blacked out windows here in Essex, it just means someones signed for Southend United or wherever it is people congregate to kick around inflatted pigs bladders in these parts.

Does anyone remember the money runs they used to do? Lots of fast lorries batting down the M4 and into Bristol. I found myself at the drop off point every week for 3 weeks, in the same car, staring at a man with a machine gun. I made a point of avoiding it on the 4th week

were they 3 or 4 navy blue lorries?

Yes! Came in to Bristol at about 2pm on a Tuesday, into some vault place by Castle Park. I have never seen one since, but that was lots of lorries surrounded by plod and they never did hang about. Dont think they happen any more tho.

Saw something similar once on the M6 one friday evening. It was dark and busy and I saw some blue lights a way off in my rear view mirror. Finished my overtake and pulled in. The car with the blues came past, Vectra or similar (can't remember what) with 3 blokes in, then another, then another, then another etc etc. About 15 went past in total. I presumed coppers on the way to a raid.

In London on 7/7 I was wandering along whitehall looking for a cab to get to Canary Wharf when a convoy of a couple of police bikes two blacked out Rangies and a marked police 5 series went flying past. To be expected I suppose considering what was going on but interesting nonetheless.

I was once navigating my way out of Glasgow Airport when on approach to a roundabout (next to the petrol station - turn right for M8/Ramada or left for Inchinnan/Paisley for those that know) a police bike came flying through at about 40mph and stopped directly in front of my bonnet. The guy on the bike put his hand flat out over my windscreen in front of my face.. then another bike came through a couple seconds later and blocked off the next entrance to the roundabout to my left... then a couple of police bikes went hurtling through, a couple black "cars" followed by another massive black "car". Then the two bikes that had stopped reformed at the rear. They were absolutely flying - and this is a fairly small road. I think the black cars were Phaetons and then Range Rovers. Nuts.

They are NCIS, they are based in sheffield.

More often than not they drive around in estates, have to be capable of doing 150 steady with 4 guys in fully loaded with comms and weapons and surveillance equipment.

But they have lots of cars.

I was driving on the M62 heading west just past Hudds at around midnight on a weeknight last year when I was overtaken by a fleet police cars and vans all lights flashing etc.
Then to my amazment around half a mile ahead of me they surrounded a car, blocked it in and stopped it on lane one of the motorway then lots of guys with guns jumped out and surrounded the car.
I didn't slow down as I went past...
Funny thing was that the car they surrounded had pulled out to let me onto the motorway and I waved a thanks to him as he overtook me a few miles earlier.

Next day I had a look around the news websites for any news but didn't find a thing.

Straight onto the next C140 to a country that permits torture

Think I'm right in saying NCIS is the national criminal intelligence service - the 'UK FBI' or possibly a burgeoning secret police force that Gordon Brown can use to purge the country of potential oppponents.

It's a conspiracy man hippy

Quite common, especially with a prison van in the middle of the convoy.

Last year during one of the anti-terror trials, they were keeping a "reluctant" witness locked up in Woodhill. Meant every day he was giving evidence there was a prison van with five car escort (two cars sandwiching the truck were four-up and armed, the other three were traffic) going out of MK am and back pm(different route to the M1 each day).

yep used to see those too, if I was late dropping Di off I used to see them near crownhill, and had seen them on the motorway too. The cars I saw didn't have a prison van though, just 3 cars, I assume it was the same thing, moving a prisoner/witness

Christ, if they can make Shogans do 150 they should stop pissing about with minor criminals and start applying their talents to a cure for cancer.
