Eh? It's got four doors, room for a pram and it's probably even pretty strong in an impact as 90s cars go.
I presume this would be a 4 wheeled baby, like the Mk3 16v Golf at the end of the road advertised due to 'iminent arrival of my new baby' only to be replaced with a 16v Mk2.

I once spoke to a chap who worked at Rover during the development of the 620ti.
He said that one of the cars they used for durability / road testing was actually the contempory Honda Accord (essentially the same co-developed car as already mentioned) fitted with the 620ti engine.
Even more of a sleeper!

Had one of these from 1995 to August 1997 in that colour and M reg'n. Heck that could be mine!!!

Heading south J20 M5 one morning and a piston gave out. Should have seen the smoke. Fair play to Rover. They didn't charge for the repairs. Good job it blew up before the company did!

Whoever is in charge of selling the 205 GTi clearly has no idea how ebay works. Firstly, the car needs work doing to it to bring it back to a good standard. The rear beam needs a refurb, the bumpers have badly faded, there are missing badges, the list goes on.
No 205's sell on ebay with such a greedy starting bid. Now that you've announced to the world how much you bought it for, who is going to want to be the mug to pay double or even tripple the initial purchase price. A second hand car dealer doesn't advertise the cars on their forecourt with the price they bought the cars for right next to the new sale price.
If this is all for fun, then put a 99p starting price, along with a reserve of £500. Even state the reserve price and it really will generate interest.
The mystery winning bidder clearly didn't fail to turn up, purely because they don't even exist in the first place!
The blatant use of 'shill bidding' was a disgrace. Who is going to bid the £1500 starting price with 5 days to go on the auction!? It's even more obvious when you hide the bidders ID, along with the winning bidders ID, so that you can use the 2nd ebay account to bid again at a later date.
And as for the Rover, well you could even get that one right. There are loads of examples of this dog/shed for around £500---> £600. The only thing it has going for it is the performance from the engine....when it works. I remember going to a Rover open day at a castle in Nottinghamshire, where we were invited to test the Rover range.
Driving this car, quick in a straight line but around the corners and under braking horrifically bad. I remember one of the Rover guys telling me the "Tomcat' was better than a 3 Series. An awful car. The 820ti was the best of the bunch, but they were all rubbish.

That's what I always think when I see practical cars for sale with that excuse. My Mum and Dad used an E-type as there only car untill child number 3 (me) came along, then they went out and got a practical car - a Capri!Eh? I popped down for a cuppa tea early summer at the Goodwood circuit (as I often do) and a local club was on the track - one of the fastest cars on the track that day was a stripped out but standard looking 620ti!! It managed about 4 runs before steam poured out from under the bonnet but was quite funny to see it on the start line alongside RS2000's, 944's etc....

Yeah, those old Rover 2.0 engines had a appetite for head gaskets! Especially so with the turbo with the increased under bonnet temps. But from what I saw (worked for a company that ran a fleet of Rovers), some of the engines were very susceptible while others weren't. Get a good one and they are great, get a bad one and be prepared for lots of cost...
A real hoot in turbo form though...
I had both the Honda 2 litre engined 620SLi and the T16 Rover engined Ti, the latter being smoother and more economical. My Ti was good, very good.A real hoot in turbo form though...
Had one of these years ago (dark blue). Truely fab, understated fun. Most memorably leaving a Lotus Elise on the the M11...the look on his face, Priceless. Happy memories. More wheel spin than you can shake a stick at and body roll to scare the pants off anyone. On the motorway, they cruised along easily.
A great looking example, so tempting for old times sake and to see the look on the faces of those reps in their BMW 320s....

Had one of these myself for 4 years and yep they were pretty fast. But my god the head gaskets it got through...eventually killed the engine and it couldn't take a second skimming, so used that as an excuse to get my Chimaera.
Still have very fond memories of the Ti though and it was definately a stealth machine.

wow...had one of these the very same colour........ joined company in 1999 and had one for a few months....
i recall describing it to petrolhead friends as `unsuitable for loaning to teenage children`.... it was insanely dangerous in the wrong hands....spooling up the turbo and tight bends would be havoc in the wrong hands.
its image must have saved lots of lives..... no kids wanted to be seen in one, turbo or not
now seen in some numbers on the streets of haringay........watch out if you need the worlds fastest illegal late night cab.
at 6`2" it also had the neat effect of having headrests which didnt adjust and only reached only the base of my neck......... just great for injury i suspect !
