It could depend upon who sits in the no2 Ferrari next year, and how well they do. If Ferrari put Sainz in the car and he does a good job, then they don't need Max. Alternatively Fezza keep Raikkonen for another year and put Ricciardo into a red car. Lots of water to go under the bridge yet.

seb and kimi to stay with ferrari next year. kimi on a 1 year deal.

come 2018, max leaves RB, joins ferrari to take kimi's place.
seb either stays with ferrari or GTFO elsewhere. marchionni won't particularly care, ferrari have their young hot talent signed.

thats my complete wild guess smile

I read yesterday that Vettel has been offered a multi year deal with Ferrari, so my guess is he'll re-sign this 3 year deal, Kim will stay on for another year with an extension to an aditional year if he/they so desire and as long as Vettel is at Ferrari there will be no Verstappen there.

i heard the same at the weekend too (cant remember if it was sky or joe saward), stating that seb wants kimi as wingman. but if kimi only gets a 1 year deal then max could be there in 2018. would ferrari allow a specific named driver exclusion in seb's contract? who knows really? certainly not us! this is all just conjecture and guesswork. i'd love to see max in a real top end car.

i'm off to spa with my adventuring buddy for the F1 next month, ive painted the bonnet of my trusty van black and he's knocked up a custom sticker for the trip. should go down well with the locals smile

+1
Max is the last person Vettel would want as his team mate. Max has the same chance of becoming Hamilton's team mate wink

It's like people banging on about Alonso either re-joining Ferrari or going to Mercedes next year, it won't happen as long as both Vettel and Hamilton stay put.

Let's not spoil the US GP thread with Verstapen comments. Should we post here about his latest tantrum?

Tantrum, I am assuming this is something to do with his penalty?

Where should we post about Lauda saying it was the worst decision he's ever seen?

Laura is entitled to his opinion, even though it is wrong, IMO.
I think Verstapen is a great driver and probably a future champion, but he is also a petulant brat at times, it’s probably an age thing.

Worst ever is probably excessive. I think Webber was closer to the mark - it was a st decision.

What a load of bull-it keeps the championship alive and that's always a good thing.

I think a lot of them are passionate, self centred and brattish at times. Remember Senna punching Irvine for daring to unlap himself? Hamiltons year of odd press comments? Schumacher storming down the pits towards Coulthard? Jacques Villeneuve whenever he opens his mouth?

I think it's a mentality aspect of a swath of drivers.

To be fair to Max Kimi did move over "perhaps not expecting Max to be there" so Max when off the circuit which was deemed illegal.

This is the issue when you have too much run off area's around a circuit. Drivers were using more than the track limits during the whole weekend which is just wrong.

This is when having gravel traps and walls in the past contained the drivers as it was not possible to overtake someone off the circuit.

It is just modern F1.

Exactly.

You need that "edge" if you want to be the best. It seems to be a trait of the best drivers.

They had to do something because cutting corners is a bit different to running wide IMO, cutting corners is shortening the distance driven as opposed to lengthening, if they let that go it'll also be OK to straight line the last chicane or the first corner at Canada, first corner in Barcelona or Australia, I think it was a fair decision, Max and his team are only pissed because he didn't get on the podium after starting last which would of been a truly great achievement but forth ain't so bad either but he and they wanted third so bad they're making themselves look like fools trying to justify cutting a corner to get in front of another car

This.

If Kimi had 'crowded' him or they had banged wheels then fair enough & the stewards probably wouldn't even have even looked at it
