I thought it was interesting to read some of the criticism of George Russell in the Hungarian GP thread. Apparently there are people who dislike him because he is the exact opposite of Ticktum. Says and does the right thing on all occasions, which seems to rub some people the wrong way.
I think Imola did George some damage, his attitude there came as a shock to many I think, and not a pleasant one.I have a close relation who works for Mercedes.
George has racing blood... as he is related to Jim Russell
( Racing school fame).
IF he does go to Mercedes, it will be with mixed emotions within the team.
Personally I would have preferred Nico in the Seat. . Hulkenberg that is.

We've little idea how good (or average) he might have been but he's conceded his F1 chances are likely gone.

No one to blame but himself, what a waste.

“Whether that’s my fault or not, I’ve opened my mouth far too many times and said things I shouldn’t have said,"https://www.autosport.com/formula2/news/ticktum-ad...

Missing the point about what he did on track...

At least it sounds like he's taken some responsibility by saying "blown my chances".https://www.autosport.com/formula2/news/ticktum-ad...

He was extremely lucky he was allowed anywhere near a race car again, you would have thought he would have kept his head down and his mouth shut.
So holier than thou on here sometimes! Bunch of boring old gits! It’s not what 99% of PHers want to hear but what he’s saying is kind of right. It can be unfair, and he is probably the most talented out there outside of F1, but yes he said the wrong things and drives into people which is obviously unacceptable. I would love to see him in F1 though as he’s a proper character and an incredibly fast racer.

Aww. Love it when someone’s auntie comes onto PH. He’s a dick. And a dangerous one at that, with the only fame of being dropped by TWO F1 académies.

So if we accept that getting into F1 is harder than just being fast (which it is) Then you play the game. You don't do it by getting a reputation of being a mouthy sh!te who crashes into people. No one to blame but his self.Muzzer79 said:
Makes you wonder what he’ll do next.
Most professional race teams want a professional driver who knows how to act and keep their mouth shut at the appropriate times.
Does he have big money behind him? If not, he’ll probably end up in some obscure sportscar team or tin-tops?
Americans tend to ignore that kind of thing. Most professional race teams want a professional driver who knows how to act and keep their mouth shut at the appropriate times.

Is he really the most talented outside of F1? He’s currently 4th in the championship. He has his moments but lacks any sort of consistency. He really isn’t the best driver outside of Formula 1. Not by a long chalk. He had a good run at F3 with some guest drives before the season and came second to Mick Schumacher. He came 11th in his first full F2 season having had previous exploratory races in the series. He is not in the running to win it in his second full season. It’s actually outrageous to tout him as the best outside F1 when that pool includes drivers who are beating him this season, drivers who have driven in F1 with success and are not currently on the grid, and any number of F3 and F2 winners who didn’t have the luck or the backing to continue, or ended up in Formula E, plus we shouldn’t forget that there is another premier open wheel competition in the States which crowns a winner every year.
It’s hard to see where Ticktum gets his sense of self-importance from looking at his results.
