I have to laugh at all the doom and gloom Williams bashing on here. They will get through the next season and be back in the mix in 2021.

No facts, no basis... Just disagreement followed by letting those more considerate in their thought process know that you're laughing at them.

Thanks for the contribution. Such as it was.

If you wish to reply, please start by pointing to the 'bashing', because I haven't seen any such thing. All I see is fans being realistic about the situation and speculating on the future. What else is there to do?

Rexona (Unilever) dropped Williams now and moved to McLaren. That’s got to hurt a bit.

Trading while insolvent has been done many times before in F1.

Peter Collins, the team principle at the original Lotus F1 team was prosecuted for it.

Although I'm assuming with williams be a plc they are under a bit more scrutiny then that.

F1 is a bit more complicated than normal companies. Lotus hired one of the big 4 accountants to advise when things got tricky who still got it wrong.

Lots of projected income that isn’t black and white.

I dunno, maybe something radical like stop posting nonsensense and speculation about something you know nothing about and wait to see what the outcome of the people who are working hard achieve.

Much as I agree with the sentiment you do realise this is an internet forum don't you? Posting nonsense and speculation about things rather than waiting for facts is what 99% of them are about. You're in the wrong place if that annoys you.

Where do i say I'm annoyed? I'm laughing at the nonsense and amateur sleuthing.

If that's your assessment then what's your problem? People are happy to discuss and speculate, and you're kept amused.

Speculation is a big part of following any sport - and a great deal of the Williams speculation had proven correct. It's certainly not all nonsense and I personally try to speculate based on facts - if you disagree with a specific part then feel free to say so. Simply dropping by and telling a bunch of people that their musings are nonsense is pretty poor form.

So is getting all excited about the difficulties a great team like Williams are enduring at the moment.

Their story is part of the sport. The team are competitors - therefore every development or trend is worth talking about to people that follow and support them.

You want an F1 forum populated entirely by people that won't discuss or speculate on the state of those competing in the sport? Will you only be happy if we all log on once a day to repeat facts, things that have already happened? I couldn't have achieved half of what I have in life without the ability and will to speculate and balance probability based on what is known - it's a basic human ability that sets us apart from computers.

I guarantee that every decision being made by the board at Williams right now will be partly based on speculation, not all things can be known, a big part of business is about filling in the gaps between facts to make intelligent gambles on the future. Likewise the sponsors, banks and investors will be speculating on the potential future and actions of Williams. If your only interest is in established facts, I suggest Wikipedia might be a better fit for you than a forum, or in fact any other place that might be infested with human intrigue and opinion.

A few years ago there were a number of F1 insiders who used to post regularly and a number of contributors with encyclopedic knowledge.

Most of them were driven away by a few incessant posters trying to prove them wrong, repeatedly repeating the same guff on every thread. The common theme seeming to be that that the more they posted, the more they thought their misguided assumptions were facts.

It would be a shame if JSF, who has contributed significantly, were similarly driven away.

Luckily, no one is attempting to drive him away. But it's not going to go down well when a group of people have been moved to comment by events surrounding a team as important as Williams, only to have their considerations dismissed as nonsense by someone that didn't even spare the time to identify what he didn't agree with or add anything at all to the discussion that was ongoing.

I would struggle to term that as a 'contribution'.

Whenever this thread comes back to the top after being quiet for a bit, there’s a 50/50 chance that it’s TheDeuce sharing negative news story about Williams and explaining to us why it’s the most damning yet.

Similar in the recent Renault thread too.

I'm interested, and the news isn't positive. I didn't return this thread to the top, I haven't shared a news story. The most upsetting part of this story happened years ago - at this stage it's just a case of watching the progress and pondering over what they might do to in response to the problems.

I might just as well offer a % likelihood of it being certain people that rubbish other contributors views instead of offering their own - but I won't, because this isn't a forum to discuss who the biggest bellends are, it's an F1 forum.
