Anyone worrying that it might be a boring season just remember, this time last year there was a sizeable gap between Mercedes and Ferrari too, this is just race 1!

So really it looks like nothing has changed then, Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull nipping at their heels. Hopefully it should be a good race tomorrow.
If things are similar then expect the Ferrari to be closer possibly even slightly quicker in race trim.

That Mercedes looks like a handful. It’ll be interesting how it goes over a race distance .

I think most people didn’t pay much attention to pre season testing times. It carrys on where we left off from last season.
Great lap by Lando Norris to get the McLaren into Q3.
Williams have a lot of work to do, let’s hope they can turn it around and work their way up the grid.

Gave up.

Tried motorsport. Com.. Had to sign in. Went back to BBC for their text updates. Which are s.l.o.w.....!

If they gave out trophies for testing Ferrari would need a new building to store 'em - never been any different.

Lol at all the very confident early predictions of mercs lack of pace.

Leclerc looked to be give vettel some ag, hope that'll give us some fun, and bottas too keep Hamilton honest? The mrs says the new weight rules help him.

Toto sounded pleasently surprised at their pace... Let's see how they fare in the race, but he didn't sound on top of it, more suck it and see

Is it too early to have any hope for Mclaren? I seem to recall they've done ok in Melbourne for the last couple of years...

"interviews hosted by Paul Do Resta".....yay.
Yeah... As a first experience of Skys offering, its pretty.. average.
He just sucks all the life and energy out of me every time he opens his mouth, monotone voice and just utterly boring with an air of "look at me" about him, sack him off, it's time, get Karun in his place full time.

Interesting weekend so far.
Merc- one lap fast? Looks very wobbly for tyre longevity and race distance
Ferrari- not sure what's happened there, strong effort from Leclerc
Red Bull- the Honda motor sounds very poppy, but I'm sure first break down will be soon.
Haas- strong effort
McLaren- poorly timed, well don't Norris, good effort
Racing point- haha stroll, great drive Perez, let's continue to make Lance look the fool he is
Alfa- quietly just there
Williams- is getting worse, kubica, twice into the wall?!? Hopefully just a bit rusty, but not good for them
Torro- business as usual
Renault- was hoping for better to be honest, let's see how the race goes

So glad I haven’t subscribed. I nearly fell for the Merc sandbagging but had my suspicions.
0.7 seconds is massive. This season will be about how easy Merc can treat their cars and still win by half a lap.

Trying F1 TV this season, i had the TV on the normal view and the iPad on Hamilton's drivercam. Made for a great combination plus you get all Hamitons radio messages . I’m looking forward to see how this adds to the experience in the race tomorrow. I just need 2 sets of eyes now. :-) Highly recommended for those who can subscribe - ie Not UK, sorry

Is it March 2018??? As other than the change of teams drivers the comments are pretty similar to then and look how tight the season was until ferrari imploded.

Wait till the start of the european races before we claim Merc will walk the championships again as even though Hamilton had pole with a similar gap last year he didn't win here.
