Perhaps those that worry about such things aren't 'woke' to Motorsport? Aren't 'woke' to the idea of focussing on a dedicated spectacle without worry about inclusive it is?
As for F1 specifically... Every possible decision is made in the name of performance. If a gay post op man turned up and tested better than anyone else, they'd get a drive. And if they win races, they grow an army of fans - same as any other driver. F1 is so performance focussed that tlno one can afford predjudices.

What is this ‘woke’ ste anyway?
I couldn’t read the article as I’m not a Torygraph reader but from the headline, all I have to say is, “bks”. I couldn’t give a tuppeny hoot who drives or who attends the races as long as it’s entertaining and isn’t watered down for the woke/snowflake/LGBTGQBBCITV generation/community or whatever else is in vogue this week thanks to the joys of social media. Again, “bks”.
Motorsport is about the best cars, engineers, designers and most importantly, drivers. The end.

There might even be a world champion of colour one day.
Oh, wait a minute
Who ever is fastest wins.

Perhaps Poppy wassername hasn't noticed all the female engineers and other staff that are seen on tv coverage.
The banning of grid girls was the first step down the woke ladder of doom.

The problem is these are essentially cowardly s and they need to see weakness first, if you pander to them by ditching grid girls, bring in formula-w etc they see a safe compliant target and attack.
You need to act like you just don't care for their weird little world
Funny thing is... The chances are there is a 'none straight' driver on the grid today, that one day probably will come out (no one specific, just statistically likely). Might that situation be bothering them right now..? No. Because they're busy driving around at 200mph!
This if why these days I get my news from the FT. It cuts out all the bks and celebrity gossip and delivers actual news facts along with non sensationalist comment on what that news means.

I took out a free trial just to read the article. I'll not cut and paste but here's the gist.
The article is about motorsport rather than F1 and hones in on a small number of LGBT/Trans drivers who recount how difficult it has been to be accepted in the sport; Charlie Martin and Richard Morris. Charlie, for example, has been ‘repeatedly let down by organisations’ who have pledged support and failed to come through on their promises. Richard has launched 'Racing Pride' in a bid to promote LGBT within the sport.
The article also touches on F1 going to places where tolerances to LGBT is at polar opposites to what we have in the UK.
The journalist clearly shows utter ignorance to the nuances of motorsport or posses any insight as to the modern world of motorsport; referring to 'Grid Girls' in F1 and Durex as a sponsor (which from memory dates back to the Shadow of the mid 70s). There is no mention of Claire Williams, W Formula, Kessel Racing or the numerous women working in top positions in many of the teams.
Utter drivel.
I try to always see things from a different perspective. But the fact that I've never heard of Charlie Martin or Richard Morris is more likely to do with the fact that they're not that quick rather than their sexual orientation.

Quite. Anyone with the right stuff to be a top level driver would respond by practicing harder and begging harder for chances. They wouldn't announce themselves as a victim and set up a frankly insulting group movement to force change. Not too LGBT++++... Just too flakey and slow me thinks.
I left a comment. As I wrote, I'll cut and paste that:
Name me a Premiership Football team managed by a woman? Name me a sport in which women are permitted to compete on equal terms with men (and often beat them)? Name a rugby team that employs female strategists? Motorsport is a meritocracy - if you are good enough or quick enough - that is enough. It's a sport in which cream rises to the top regardless of anything else. To assume otherwise is to demonstrate ignorance as to what makes the sport tick. The marketability of a female or LGBT driver emerging capable of competing at the highest level would be immense to a level that could put straight drivers at a disadvantage. The fact that there's yet to emerge anyone is because, quite simply, there's none currently good enough. That's really it. It really, really is that simple.
