Following some pundits predictions what would be yours?

Mine is that a mid-field team will win a race this year; maybe a McLaren, or a Racing Point if their car is as fast as everyone in the paddock seems to think it might be (obvs the result of a chaotic race of some kind).

Prediction for 2020: missed season.

Which is fking tragic after 2019, this was going to be the sequel to end all sequels.

For what it's worth, in a different world without coronavirus... I would have said that this was the season where red bull would have bested Ferrari and that Lewis would have quite easily (based on glimpses of performance from testing) won his 7th and ground breaking title.

Seems it wasn't to be though! And what happens next is very much beyond our predictions of those of anyone in F1.

Without Corona virus

Hamilton to win and still be smug
Vettel to screw up again and be beaten by his team mate
Racing Point to be 3rd in championship, resulting in a rule change for next year.
McLaren to win a race (he said hopefully)
Williams to overtake Haas (this may be wishful thinking) and Haas to leave F1 as a result

Coronavirus won't actually make that much of a difference.

It'll inevitably stop what was already inevitable smile

CV in terms of F1 has hit the 'pause' button. Which would be fine but next year with the rule changes etc.. I feel like we're not going to see the climax of the current era.

Exciting in its own way though - bring on 2021. Let's see who has what ready for the new era..

‘Tragic’:

Adjective- causing or characterized by extreme distress or sorrow.[/i]

Really? You need to find something else in your life.

Indeed..

It was shaping up to be a very good season imo - more of 2019 with a few twists would have been great.

Despite what 'Realist' thinks, I do understand that some things are more important than F1... But at the time I posted that thread I was far from the only one looking forward to this season.

Bold prediction that races run behind closed doors will make no difference to the TV viewer but crofty and co will keep mentioning it.
May enhance viewing due to no cutaways to crowd as a crucial bit of action is half completed but they will probably cut away to people sat on a sofa at home Gogglebox style frown

Lewis Hamilton to win the championship outright.
Bottas does a Raikkonen and shows flashes of brilliance, but when the contract is signed he'll go lax again.
Grosjean crashes on his own, blames Coronavirus.
Rich Energy to buy out Haas, or at least say they're going to be part of a consortium to buy it.
Williams to score 2pts.
Latifi won't do anything.
Raikkonen to sign a year extension to Alfa Romeo.

Ferrari to have to self quarantine, expect race to be cancelled "cos Ferrari" (one of the later ones)

Due to strange engine decision from the FIA all the other teams say no, keep racing. Massive huff from Ferrari.

Vettel gets properly spanked by Leclerc in the first half and they sign Ricciardo.

I think we'll see Australia, Bahrain and Vietnam happen, then there'll be a break until Belgium.

They might be able to squeeze one or two postponed races into the calendar, but I fancy we'll see approx 13 races this season.

At least 1 race will see a third driver substituting for a race driver who is sick

No more than 3 races being called off.
Silverstone to be rainy on race day.
Williams on the podium in Monaco.

I think the city-based street races are most at risk of cancellation, as they are almost impossible to be held behind closed doors. Most of the European season should be largely unaffected, for TV viewers at least, as by the time that kicks off in a couple of months C19 will either be fully contained (unlikely) or more evenly spread everywhere (most likely), meaning travel bans will be pointless, and all the teams are based in Europe anyway.

A pink car will win a race.
A McLaren will get a podium.
Williams won't finish last in the WCC.

Maranello in CV lockdown.
Season reduced to 10 races.
Double points introduced once again for final race to keep TV interested.
Bottas pips Hamilton to WDC.
Max outpoints both Ferraris.
Norris gets two podiums.

I can’t see Zandvoort, Barcelona or Monaco going ahead in May.
Plus China and you’re already at 4 lost races.

I'm not sure that was what liberty we're aiming for biggrin

But yes, I suppose the more we have to start, the more we can afford to lose. At what point does the championship become a joke though?
