Whilst I agree with most of what you wrote, the final statement on DR is something I think you have wrong. DR left Red Bull purely and simply because RB made it quite clear Max was the second coming, despite the fact that DR beat him the previous season (2017) and was ahead in that season (2018) as well. As we all know RB is a single driver team, therefore DR knew he would have to play second fiddle and have no chance of a WDC with RB.
Yep. I often wonder if it had a much bigger mental effect on him than even he realised. We saw some magical drives from Danny in the Redbull and it's all dissappeared since his first move.

DR was daft to leave Red Bull, but Max is the second coming.

Well given how poorly Ricciardo has done since leaving Red Bull, they certainly were correct in choosing to back Verstappen……

We have seen it all before.
Alonso leaving mclaren in a huff after deciding they favoured pushy youth,Lewis.
The Red bull Danny thing.
And the latest, Lewis leaving Mercedes as he had lost the image of easily being the No1 , and the hopeless car.
Only this latest Lewis bombshell is a prestige move that can be rationalized.
The other two acted with too much emotion, and should have listened to someone not involved in pocketing a
nice percentage.

He was occasionally beating an 18 year old who’d done a few races.

Just like red bull, Danny will have seen the data. Just like when Pedro de La Rosa watched Lewis do his first test in a McLaren, turned to his chief engineer and proclaimed “we’re all fked”.

he wasn’t that daft to leave red bull, he knew he wasn’t going to be the number 1 driver, they were (allegedly) offering him a fraction of max’ salary……

he could’ve stayed, not been world champion and not earned what he could’ve.

he took the risk that renault, then mclaren, might have come up with a competitive car, and a whopping salary to top it off. ok competitively it hasn’t paid off, but i think he’d have been kicking himself even more if he stayed put, didn’t take the risk or the money!

This is the lie that Danny's very powerful PR machine prepared for him. The truth is that he has consistently chased the biggest paycheque even to the detriment of his racing career. This has been a through line of his entire F1 tenure, and it has been very successful.

Is there an actual story to that or have you just typed it for effect? Legit want to know as that would be quite funny.

It’s also worth listening to Pedro’s “beyond the grid” podcast interview-he discusses itoin there too. I think he baca me a bit of a mentor to a young Lewis.

It was nice one year when pedro was doing the post race interviews and Lewis was genuinely pleased to see him.

Jenson said something (to his dad I think) along the lines of 'If Lewis works out how to get the best from himself and the engineers, the rest of us might as well go home.'

Tooling around near the back picking up a massive pay check with a huge smile but zero points.

Time to put Lawson in that car.

Did either of you watch the race? They absolutely fked him over with the strategy, he didn't have a hope in hell after that.
