Can anyone identify this F1 part? Looks like some sort of linkage to me.

It was gifted to a friend by someone who was presented with it on an official factory tour but sadly neither of them know it’s purpose.

How long is it? Do I see several fixing options at each end? It's not a suspension arm as they've generally been carbon fibre for years. This looks like it may be part of an anti-roll bar linkage.

I've got a final drive gear from a Marussia, maybe if we all pool together we can build our own car?

I've got a rear wheel from a Toyota TF109, currently serving as a plant pot stand. We're getting there.

It looks like the linkage to either a heave damper or the anti roll bar - but its hard to judge scale. It looks pretty hefty!

I dont think its a torsion spring as they tend to use splines not clevis joints - a clevis would wear badly in that application and doesnt make sense.

Ask Scarbs on twitter, you'll get an answer.

Any part numbers/etchings/idents or have they been ground off?

Twitter will also know the part numbering scheme used at teams to match up.

If it's got a part number on it or any sort of marking post it up, I could at least check if it's a Red Bull bit for you.

It looks pretty hefty and more like something you'd find on a 4 link live rear axle under a drag car but I've probably just watched too much American stuff on youtube etc.

Scale would help. It's probably around 30 cm long, maybe 7 or 8mm in diameter. The fixing holes are the end are probably 5mm.

It's made of a very light material, either aluminium or titanium would be my guess.

I thought it would be a suspension component but I'm not sure if it's strong enough.

I'm pretty sure it'd be part marked if it was one of ours, and the tours definitely don't give anything out, although who knows if there's some special VIP stuff that happens!

Could well be from the Jaguar or Stewart days though, apparently things weren't quite as 'professional' back then hehe

If it was a suspension link or ARB droplink of some kind then you'd expect it to be adjustable with a rose joint on at least one end. It looks more like a section of steering column with the two clevis ends for a UJ.

@poppopbangbang or @JSF would be the guys to ask on here. shout

It does look vaguely like a non adjustable version of the bell crank to heave spring tie rod in Poppopbangbangs Minardi here.

My guess is part of a steering column, as I'd expect suspension parts to be adjustable.

In terms of the PH F1 Bitsa, I have half an Arrows front wing from one of Takagis many 1997 crashes....

I have a 2012 wheel and a pair of rear tyres from 1986 if that will help.
