JSF... get over it and return
Discussion
People rarely use forums these days, especially in a niche area. Social media has taken over that vocation sadly, and I can take or leave that.
It is sad as they are often a place for great discussion and also finding information, I have used forums for info gathering to either confirm something I thought or find out more about something.
They are remarkable useful as a tool.
I have experience all sorts, from bullying, over zealous moderation to remove people that simply knew how to argue from all out verbal war. To being contacted by forum owners to carry on winding people up as the numbers increase hugely when you do!!

People leaving, forced or otherwise is the start of a decline. It might seem funny and "sod him" in the moment, but over time the more interesting contributors are whittled away.
Seen it happen on other forums.
That's basically why I bothered to start this thread. You can't attract new people that have interesting things to say if a forum community declines beyond a certain point.Seen it happen on other forums.
I hadn't actually realised he had been ejected when I posted, I thought he had just left. If the former is true however, unless he caused some huge upset I'm totally unaware of, it just seems a bit OTT to ban him as a user.
Some people simply have a vendetta because they do not like you, I would imagine you would do the same if you were admin about me. there is a difference between being offended and being wrong, some people are passionate about things and come at them from very different sides, others simply sit and watch and rarely post. As long as nothing offensive is being done, I see no issue.
It happens all the time on forums sadly and often people are dumped from simply being opinionated and good at arguing without overstepping the mark. If you annoy an admin they will find a way of banning you.

Didn't follow JSF as such but the posts I did read it came across that he knew his stuffIt is sad as they are often a place for great discussion and also finding information, I have used forums for info gathering to either confirm something I thought or find out more about something.

Agree with LB66 100% that forums are a great place for finding information
One of my favourite F1 jobs while working for a top team was compiling 'Competitor Design Reports'
My reports after each test and race were extremely effective at improving performance in so many different ways, on so many levels too
I was far better at the job than I could have ever been on my own as I used a forum to help me. The forum was my 'secret weapon' that not even the team knew about

It's not this one and maybe one day I'll go on it to spill the beans and thank everyone for their help

I think like GinettaG15Girl over in Planes... JSF was obviously very knowldgable you just had to choose your words carefully!
Maybe he eloped with her!I think when you have specialist knowledge on a subject it's very easy to find the ignorant assertions and absurd claims quite irritating, especially when everyone's equal on a forum and they seemingly carry the same weight as your own. I'm a sparky and can tell you that some of the diarrhea that gets typed into DIY forums under the guise of advice is mind blowing, and given the context quite worrying.
Basically you need to take a chill pill, and recognise you're on a sub forum of a car fanciers website with lots of blokes talking themselves up and not a private access controlled forum for industry experts, and either not take the clashes personally or step back. I think a lot of posters on various sub-forums struggle with this.

How do you do that if you're banned? No means of contact?
You can simply email the admin team - in fact that's the only way you can generally reach them - unless you're friends with one or more of them.If I were booted, given the choice, I think I'd opt to have my posts pulled tbh. Who wants an ever outdated echo of their past presence in a forum slipping from relevance without the ability to address future comments on those thoughts? Either you're present or you're not.
I know JSF in 'real life'. He is a good bloke with no 'side' to him. He is very knowledgeable about cars, both racing and roadgoing. He is straight talking and doesn't tolerate BS, which upsets some people, especially those whose fragile egos don't like their errors being pointed out.
PH is poorer without his contributions.
