Can understand if Lewis is held to his contract. Jumping in a direct competitors car early could help the development gain at least a month if he offers some insight to something they haven't thought of.
Ferrari letting sainz get in a williams probably means they dont expect them to push Ferrari down the order.
Of course they could just be typical overconfident we dont need newey italians lol.
Maybe they should let Lewis go to Ferrari now and take all of the W15 drawings with him. That should slow down Ferrari for 2025.
he's not released early from his Merc duties because there's two million sponsor things to do before he goes. He will be on a world tour of goodbye parties/photo opps, moreso probably than any previous driver in F1 history..

it's a big shout here but Grosjean is in a GM powered indy car and has F1 experience, as an outside shot, perhaps test/dev alongside indy he could well end up involved
If its going to be anyone from Indycar, it has to be Stingray Robb. hehe

Maybe Cadillac will promote one of their youngsters from WEC ... Jenson Button maybe?

They have Will Stevens and Sebastien Bourdais in the car next years as well so spoilt for choice ...

From the Austrian GP on the 30th June 2024 until last weekend's Las Vegas GP, there have been 12 winners in 12 races (7 different drivers from 4 teams).

So far this season:

Max winning 8 races.

Lando winning 3 races.

Leclerc winning 3 races.

Oscar winning 2 races.

Russell winning 2 races.

Sainz Jr winning 2 races.

Hamilton winning 2 races.

The 2025 season is shaping up to be a mega one!
Didn't Sky say in commentary that this is the first year that 7 drivers have won two races and also the first year that 4 teams have had a 1-2? Clearly, having a lot more races makes that more likely but it still shows how close it could have been had Red Bull (well, Max anyway) not got off to a flier at the start

I’m hoping for Sainz Snr winning one next year.

2009? Brawn won 10/17 races. They had a great advantage in the first half, and was still top 3 in Monza and Abu Dhabi. On average I think they were faster.

According to f1-analysis.com in 2009 RedBull was faster, and it included 1983, where the Ferraris and the Renaults were faster than Brabham

Has F1 experience.....causing crashes, including the one that nearly cooked him.
The absolute last thing F1 needs is that bloody liability back on the grid.

2018 and 2019 also come to mind when the Ferraris were faster than the MB.

No, it's a discussion. No need to be all sensitive.

Yeah he’s off to Malaysia straight after the AD race to spend time with Petronas.

Difficult to blame Merc for not letting him leave early, given that he’ll be a competitor next year and the opportunity for numerous ‘goodbye’ events for everyone connected to the team. I suspect he arrives home on Christmas Eve, has a week off, then takes a flight to Italy to report for duty on 2nd Jan

Mick Schumacher won't be with Mercedes as reserve driver in 2025. He stays at Alpine as one of their 6 WEC drivers.

Or he might be going to Red Bull? Don't see it though but there's been some chatter today.

More likely to be GM for 2026 in my view...

Bottas to Mercedes, junior program may mean he is just a reserve with no FP duties unless Kimi turns out to be a dud. Yuki was sure to be Red Bull but now not so sure.

Last thing GM are thinking about is drivers at this stage.

Mario bigging up Colton Herta again. He still doesn't have the super licence points he needs
