Unfortunately in the UK the power of NIMBY is pretty strong and the tracks really suffer as a result. However after a few years racing I still feel that we’re pretty blessed with our variety of circuits, when you consider how many tracks we have for such a small amount of space we’re doing well. Some are small and facilities lacking, but for saloon or touring car racing they all offer something. Maybe not F1 worthy but Silverstone, which is a wonderful F1 venue, is pretty much the most boring track in the country in anything else. I raced the GP layout last year in a car with 406hp and felt like I’d need double the amount for the track to actually come alive! As long as we have one premier venue for the F1 I personally think we’re actually better off with a variety of small and quirky tracks such as Cadwell, Combe, Oulton etc.Meanwhile the UK has tracks tucked away miles from anywhere worth being.

very much agree, F1 has ruined silverstone as a drivers track, there are many better in the country.TheDeuce said:

In the late 90s/early 00s I used to do trackdays in my Caterham 7 Superlight. The Nurburgring was exhausting, Spa was brilliant, Snetterton great for a first ever track, Brands GP was epic, but Silverstone (a much older layout) was utterly dull. I only did that one once.suffolk009 said:

I did a Caterham day at a very wet Silverstone and really enjoyed it.I even managed a spin at Stowe.

A friend's uncle had a self-build that abutted the perimeter fence of the GP circuit at Brands. My friend called in one race day and I felt obliged to go along. All he did was complain of the noise, and the fact that 'thousands' of motorcyclists rode along the A20 on motorcycle race days. He became an organiser of the anti-Brands campaign, suggesting that they build it elsewhere, the irony escaping him. The fact that visitors to the circuit are not allowed to cough before 10am being down to him and his ilk.
I’ll keep my thoughts to myself! What a shame about Brands GP being so limited, I’ve raced it twice now and it’s utterly wonderful. Unfortunately UK race calendars have basically become ‘Brands Indy, Snetterton, Donington, Silverstone + 2/3 others’ as those 4 are the ones that seem to (mostly) escape the wrath of the neighbours and so are guaranteed on pretty much everyone’s calendar every year without fail. As a result I wait in keen anticipation for the 2/3 others whilst those circuits have become almost a bit boring. At this point weirdly I get more excited for a trip to Mallory (oval+hairpin, that’s about it) than I am for Donners which is actually a technically challenging and brilliant circuit, just because I’ve only been to Mallory once but I feel like I could do Donners blindfolded.Edited by CanoeSniffer on Tuesday 14th May 18:23

I know what Christian Horner has said - his words aren't a matter of speculation: "Adrian's focus is very much on the RB17 (Red Bull's hypercar, ed.)," Christian Horner says. "He’s not sat in any briefings over the weekend other than the race strategy and he has no access to any data. He's not drawing any parts. His focus is now very much on RB17 to the end of his contract."

We seem to live in this ludicrous world where london football grounds disrupt everyone ,what with the drunken chanting slobs attending to capacity at 100s of events a year.
The only time F1 gets mention is some imbecile scheme to run it around the streets. Imagine the distruption of closing off so many roads for a week?
What the need to do is lay a pinball smooth track somewhere like hyde park. Grandstands can be temporarily brought in for the weekend.
F1 gets its claptrap city background shots. No distruption beyond what happens when a football match is on.
King makes it happen in a glimpse of the amount of power he actually has.
We could have 2 F1 races in multi f1 team UK like wot the 1 team Italians have.
Clapton,collins and sting concerts wont be forever so we need to find a new use for hyde park.

Marble Arch, out west on North Carriage Drive, then turn left through Hyde Park and over the Serpentine Bridge, back east alongside the A315, loop around Hyde Park Corner and then back up Park Lane. Great idea!Sadik can repurpose the COVID-era cycle lanes on Park Lane that nobody uses and have the F1 cars driver there, while regular passenger cars can keep stationary on the one remaining “car” lane thus causing no disruption to cwr traffic in that part of London.
