Red Bull "bending" the rules, who would have guessed it.

Well they are very good at that and it seems it is legal if not in the spirit of the rules.

I wish there was a bit more transparency though from the fia as to why they change a rule. And if this was indeed the case. I do wonder how long that would have been in place. It's a genius idea.

TBF even the article is clear that if RBR were doing what it states with asymmetric breaking, it was within the rules. It’s just a F1 team pushing for every advantage, as they all should be doing.

Would be very interesting if Verstappen’s Australia failure caused the FIA to investigate it! The line at the time was that it was just a mechanic’s mistake.

I wonder the odds are for Verstappen not to win again this season…

I don’t see him winning this one by a long shot, Norris with Piastri playing Wingman & Lewis joining them on the podium.

That’s how that piece reads, and it chimes with comments MV has made about the brakes in the last few races. Perhaps there was a directive at Miami to remove it, which didn’t become common knowledge at the time?

The Red Bull has also noticeably changed how it approaches apex kerbs, staying away from them when McLaren and Mercedes are much more aggressive. Perhaps this is related, or else is something to do with the upgrades the other cars have made to suspension over the year?

(Thanks PiaP for the thread, and that month passed quickly!).

A very interesting deep dive into hamiltons struggles with the post 22 regs and the Mercedes’ shortcomings in particular.

Hamiltons performance post summer brake is one of many stories we’re all going to have the pleasure of discussing in the following months.

As for Red Bull’s “cheating”, get over yourselves! That is F1! This is what we pay to see, the worlds best “nearly cheating”, I love it personally.

Bending is fine to me. Breaking is not. So if within the letter of the rules, I don't think it should be banned.

You're the only one who's mentioned the word cheating.
Cheating or pushing rules to the limit? One is acceptable the other not surely.

It is a lack of clarity and favouritsm towards RB that turned me away from viewing for 2 years, and the start of this season, enjoying it again now.

Voted Hamilton for the win, the 2 Mclaren drivers are both good, but not there just yet, lots to learn, like Norris actually getting off the line level with others biglaugh, and Piastri mastering follwing closesly and getting passes done.

Surprised MV getting a lot of votes TBH, not been at the races for a while.

If they’re re-writing technical regulations mid-season, then it means that someone found a good loophole.

So well done to that team or those teams. It’s a build-the-fastest-car-within-these-regulations kinda sport.

Rule interpretation is integral to F1. Haha, the 6 wheeler, F duct, monster oil burning engines, DAS and now RBR's alleged T shaped brake ducts. Let the engineers dream up lots more!

You really lifted the bar with that reply.

I agree though, it's not cheating it's rule interpretation and I don't think anyone here accused them of cheating. It's sounds like a classic good innovation. I hope we hear some more.

yes I don't think there's any indication that Redbull broke the rules; however if they go against the intentional of the rules and the FIA notice, they have to expect the rules to be changed mid-season. This is presumably why Mercedes have tended to develop their innovations (such as DAS) in conjunction with the FIA rather than trying to hide them for as long as possible.

There's obviously advantages to both approaches.

Active suspension. Though that might be what DAS is? Oh and the merc push pull steering wheel thing
