Looking forward to this one, mainly because I've just got back from Vegas and I've mastered the art of clipping the apex at Turn 14 in a Chevrolet Tahoe
Why clip the apex? Just run anyone else off the outside of the corner.TheDeuce said:
Spotted it too. And I'm guessing the Venetian has no idea it's to be an unofficial F1 meet up venue... I'm sure security will appreciate the surprise.
Ah, the adult equivalent of telling everyone on Facebook/Twitter that your friend has an empty house this weekend and there’s going to be a party. No the bar won’t particularly appreciate it, if it’s not been booked in advance, and neither will the people who turn up and either have to stand with a drink or get turned away by the door staff. You really don’t want to end up on the wrong side of Vegas hotel security by trying to organise a flash mob fan meet.

Not sure I have seen this shared in any of the other f1 threads, if it has - apologies for repeating!
Williams have put out a fantastic bit of film post-brazil receiving the cars back and some of the processes of rebuild to get ready for Las Vegas.
Well worth 10 minutes of your time and kudos to Williams for documenting it - as an F1 fan I would love to see more of this type of content and insight into teams operations.

Well done to the Williams media team for the insight, and of course a massive well done to the boys and girls at the factory who managed to somehow put it all back together again in time for it to be shipped off to Vegas.
I suspect that the time between races has also saved them a fortune, in being able to salvage as much as possible from those boxes of mangled wreckage.

A Grand Prix in Vegas is the one thing that could almost convince me to go to Vegas.
(no, the moment's passed)
Same here. A Grand Prix and the Sphere are probably the only two things that would get me out there. But then reality sets in: the crowds, the chaos, and the overwhelming Vegas-ness of it all. The thought is fleeting at best.(no, the moment's passed)

Add in a trip to the Hoover Dam and then escape to the coast - head to Santa Barbera and then trundle up the coast road (San Luis Obispo, Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey, etc), finish with a few days in SF and then head home from there...vaud said:

I’ll give you the Hoover Dam - that must be quite a sight. Beyond that, though, Vegas itself doesn’t hold much appeal. A quick detour to the dam, then off to the coast sounds like a much better plan.Nova Gyna said:

The coastal route is wonderful, as are many of the smaller towns on the way. SF has a lot to offer, or if you prefer to avoid cities then head over the bridge to Marin, Napa and Sonoma. You could do a very nice week/10 days from Vegas GP, then head West and wonder up the coast. In the off season you could just use Expedia and pick a hotel each night for reasonable rates (say £80/night). Weather wont be amazing, but still 15-20c in the day.

Texas through to CA, there's great roads and a lot to see.

But if I was to travel all the way to the US to see a motorsport event it would be a toss-up between the GP and the Food City Nascar race at Bristol Motor Speedway. If you're going to the US to see a race - do it properly. Rent a pickup, cook some barbeque, learn the banjo, and chat to some Billy-Bobs about why they voted for the orange man? Seriously, it looks an amazing place to hold a race - a 1/2 mile oval.

Been to few and Nascar really is that other side to America, larger than life, vibrant and full of colour. Vegas is bonkers, just take it for what it is and enjoy it.The various Nevada deserts around Vegas are interesting if you like landscape. Quite surreal the first time you encounter a real road runner at speed.

I wouldn't go to the US for F1, but in 1992 I went to the Daytona 500 and it was such a fantastic event. Great view from the Winston Tower too! Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
