Only 2 more races to go, and we’re in Qatar for the penultimate race as once again F1 follows the $$$.

The circuit should suit McLaren and Red Bull more than Ferrari and Mercedes as it’s fairly fast, but really who knows. McLaren will want a good score here to seal the WCC.

Colapinto will want to not bring the car home in a body bag again, Lawson needs to show some speed compared to the ever excellent Tsunoda.

A Piastri win for me- he was good here last year and needs a result.

Here’s to a great race.

Date(s): Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December 2024.

Thanks for all your work in preparing and posting the threads throughout the year PIAP. It’s my go to page for info on race timings (and post race arguments).
My money is on Lando this weekend and Lewis to win his final race for Mercedes next weekend.

Can McLaren secure the WCC on Sunday? How does the maths work on that?

Ferrari are 24 points behind, theoretically there are a maximum 103 points available over the next 2 weekends, 59 this weekend and 44 next weekend. Mathematically McLaren need to score enough points to be at least 44 ahead after this weekend for it to be decided this weekend. Not likely really unless both Ferraris fail to finish.

It'll be hot so won't suit the Mercs, they really seem to like the cooler weather. McLaren have gone backwards...

Ferrari or a Max result probably...

Thanks PIAP ... one more and you can have a break beer

I've gone for Norris getting his act together and winning now the WDC is definitely gone.

I don't really mind - would like another interesting race and think all bodes well for a decent scrap next year smile

You'd have to think that the McLarens will be back to form in the warmer weather and the Mercs back outside the top 5. Probably a Lando win.

Mainly wondering if Alpine can continue to try and mix it up and convert into scoring some actual points.

Thanks again PiaP!!

I'm going to predict that Max will sandbag his performance to make the RBR look like it was not the overall fastest car this year, and ensure that WCC points are kept to a minimum for the performance wind tunnel gain in 2025.

I could be wrong of course. We'll see.

McLaren 1-2 in the sprint and GP with FL would do it, even if Ferrari are 3-4 in both. Unlikely, but possible.

Thanks again PIAP! smile

I have a feeling McLaren are going to have a nightmare, and we'll see a Ferrari 1-2 with a McLaren in 3rd.

Maybe... I've gone Saintz, I think the Ferraris will be quick and Saintz has nothing to give the people who sacked him, other than to show up LeClerc

Maybe- leclerc is generally a bit quicker than him though, particularly on the faster circuits

Also, this being a sprint race will mean fewer practice sessions to set up the car as they get thrown into the action straight away.

Thankfully for the drivers this race is eight weeks later than last year, when it was at the start of October and still very hot and humid, some said worse than Singapore.

Expected air temps under 20ºC after dark, which should favour the Mercedes as it did in Vegas.

Would love to see Lewis sign off his astonishing Mercedes career with a win in one of the last two races.

Mercs certainly like the cooler temps, but wasn't it around 14C for Vegas? Qatar is expected to be 19-24?
