I expect CLC will go back to crashing quite a lot, which is what he seems to do under pressure.

I don't think Sainz of CLC are consistent enough over a season to challenge Max, Lando either for that matter. Max is always there at every track, it's very rare for him to have an off weekend, that's why he's so hard to beat. He will build up a lead and then plays dirty when one of the others have a good weekend.
No it's the illegal car that made Max hard to beat. Take that away and you have the second half of this year.

Can we stop with the illegal car stuff, it's boring and innacurate.

The fact is it passed all scrutineers inspections, so it was legal for the races declared.

(note I don't follow any team so I'm not being an RB fan, I just like accuracy)

Perez was very clear in an interview on Thursday that the car doesn’t suit his style of driving, that the team know this and when they give him a more suitable car he will be back towards the front.

True or not, who knows…
That's a great story, isn't it.
Yes, it is. Jos said the same about Perez recently I believe. I did not click on it, but that was the strap line.

Is it inaccurate? Looks like the most logical conclusion from the evidence.

I think with Red Bull they suffer for having an exceptionally gifted driver who's style works in harmony with the handling characteristics that make a chassis very fast but also edgy. He can get the best from that where not many others can.

The team then have a choice, do they develop the car to be more benign, giving a wider range of drivers confidence to really push it (slower ultimate potential)? That would mean a driver like Verstappen would be being held back by the car rather than the other way around. Or do they build a car very fast but hard for drivers who aren't Max to exploit?

I think the answer's in the past 7 years. Driver after driver has tried to drive RB cars and as each season progresses the 2nd driver loses confidence. They
either go slower and slower (Perez) or crashier and crashier trying to drive through it (Albon).

When MV was at Toro Rosso it seemed a lot closer with CSJ than it has been with his teammates at RB. I wonder if that's because TR couldn't develop a car over a season to the same degree and finite control as RB, meaning the car never changed over a season in the way it has done in the lead team?

I guess what they need is another driver with cat like reactions who likes a car on the nose with the self confidence to exploit it, or a more benign car.

It passed the scrutineering, yes, but the brake manufacturers accurately stated that their parts were not responsible for the RB DNF, and after a "word" the Max/RB advantage [i]suddenly[/b] got a lot slower. Coincidence, hmmm?

Got my ducks - and many others - quacking all in a row...

They passed scrutineers inspection and therefore a legal entry.
The FIA race reports state the facts and their respective classification.
Anything else is a hypothesis that we probably won't understand for some years, or maybe never.

I just turned it on, and to be honest I am loving the love for F1, I stopped watching the preshow as it is just st, but Schitt talking bks and some bell dancing in a silly suit with DJ decks, where on earth has F1 gone wrong? I thought the DJ at the Mexican GP when Kimi just looked lost was a touch too far, but no apparently it can get worse.

Believe this or not but according to someone I know within the sport the reason Perez still has a drive is because the organisers can’t guarantee the safety of Red Bull staff in Mexico is he’s binned. Apparently a gentleman’s agreement is being sought so both sides can save face.

Re Lewis chat.

He’s checked out. He’ll never admit it in public but he thinks Mercedes have cheated him out of some of his best years. Not to mention F1 cheated him of 07 and 21.

Put him in a competitive car and he’d be back to normal. Same as Alonso.

Put Lewis, Max or Fernando in a competitive car and they’ll win the championship. If they all had competitive cars there’s be fireworks.

I do tend to agree, i think we might see him do well next year as the Ferrari does look good.atm, and next years cars will be very similar.
I also assume that since the team knew he was leaving that they have been favoring Russel,
Hes still seriously quick when it all works for him.
