Cyclists don't go out on the road to attack cars !!

If the cyclist did tap the car it was more than likely because the driver was running him into the kerb..
I never said they do!

Nice dig. So he shouldn't care about his car because it's an 'old C Class'?

What do you drive then?
phahaha I could not resist. Where did I say he shouldn't care about his car because it's an old c class? I said he should care even though it's an old c class.

That is one advantage in wearing a helmet which they don't advertise much. hehe

Erm, cyclists do have more right to be on the road. Motorists have a licence, not a right.

Well put that man.

People seem to forget that roads were around long before cars....

I think you'll find that the roads were built for cars and cyclists (and various other users), too (except the motorway, hence the name).

rofl He's just stated what the law says. You can't just deny it.

Well I suppose you can, but it makes you look a bit daft.

Actually they were built for horses and pedestrians, long before either cyclists or cars came along.

Yes, agree fully. Just things adapt over time.
And roads have adapted for cars, imo.

So we've established that there is no standard test for cyclists, and that any Tom dick or Harry can ride?

Yes. That's what it means for them to have a "right" to use the road and is why drivers don't have a "right" to use the road. That's what the word "right" means. smile

... which is bloody stupid. Adding another "bloody stupid" for pedal bikes doesn't sound like the right thing to do. hehe

More cycle lanes would be useful.

  • or for them to cycle on the right of the cars where there is more room. Like what motorbikes do.

Better designed cycle lanes would be a start - most of the ones around here, the cyclist is expected to give way every time they reach a side-road. banghead

Personally, I never try to filter down the left of cars on the odd occasion that I cycle, it's a really rather stupid thing to do.
