I'm genuinely surprised at the people who are expressing concern for the car when we have no idea about the state of the driver.
From the picture that was posted, it doesn't look like he would've been too seriously injured. It was probably, and hopefully, just superficial injuries. The articles posted make it sound a lot worse than it actually looks.

First and foremost I hope that Rowan is okay.
Secondly, I hope that the car can be repaired without much trouble as I know how much he loves it. I've always admired him as an automotive enthusiast and he's exactly the type of person who should have an F1. His 37,000+ miles behind the wheel proves that, even if he has had some misfortune along the way.

Hope Rowan is ok. Radio 4 were reporting pain in his shoulder. Presumably, being a central driving position car, this would most likely be caused by the 4 point harness rather than any impact with a tree or lamp post.
As has been shown time and time again, McLaren can and do repair these cars to as new condition. Hopefully we can see it up and running again soon.

Totally agree, cars can be repaired pretty easily.Secondly, I hope that the car can be repaired without much trouble as I know how much he loves it. So does that mean every F1 chassis ever built is still on the road today or in fine working order? None been written off??As has been shown time and time again, McLaren can and do repair these cars to as new condition. Hopefully we can see it up and running again soon.

I'm fairly certain that of the 106 that were built in total, including GTRs, LMs and GTs, that we've lost a total of 6. XP1 - first prototype, crashed and burned in the Namibian desert during development testing
XP2 - MIRA crash test car, later crushed
Chassis #004 or #005 - crashed by a mechanic in Brunei, salvaged for parts only according to sources
Chassis #010 - crashed by Bernd Pischetsrieder, then President of BMW and "written off"
Chassis #017 - crashed by Christopher Dawes on a rain slicked road in Essex. He and his two passengers perished in the ensuing fire

Chassis #033 - crashed by its German owner on the Autobahn. He chose not to have McLaren repair the car and instead ordered a new one.
There are a lot of others that have been crashed, even a few multiple times like this one, but as far as I know the rest have been repaired leaving us with 100 total F1s in existence today.

I hope he is alright. MacLaren still look after the car. Rowan has been released from hospital with an injured shoulder.
