Engine builder support ( or lack of )

The issue around the dipstick and oil would at least seem clear cut - they supplied the engine, which would be seen to include a dipstick (?). That it was the wrong one and has caused a failure is for them to take up with their supplier... Their failure to test and check parts they fitted?
