I know I'll never have one (and if I did I'd likely be disappointed) but still
I don’t think you would be disappointed tongue out

What disappoints me is that there doesn’t appear to be a new Jaguar XF on the horizon curse

I would love a new Jaguar Diesel Sports saloon with 300 plus BHP. Surely there must be a market for them.

Had the saloon about 6 or 7 years ago, loved it!! Currently weighing up an RS6 of the same era, but then fear weighs in!

I was lucky enough to have one of these for a few years. In the same colour scheme but without drug-dealer windows.

Best looking alloys ever !

Never mind just today, I've been obsessing about this fantastic monster for the best part of a month or so: a 1917 American LaFrance "speedster" based on a cut-down firetruck chassis and running gear. With 100hp from its advanced (at the time) 14.5 litre 4-valve 6-cylinder engine, it has chain drive and rear axle brakes only on the wooden wheels. Proper(ly scary) Motoring for Proper Chaps!!

Unfortunately with most of my collection "in restoration" it wouldn't have realised the capital to buy this had I sold everything as-is. According to the ad, it's now unfortunately (for me) sold. I'll have to stick with my vintage Land Rover for now, which does at least have a roof and does more than 5mpg.....

It turns out Jay Leno's garage featured an episode on a similar but not quite as subtle build a few years ago:

A B5 RS4, cannot stop looking at them...

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2001-audi-b5-r...

Constantly racking my brain and my logic day in day out deciding if I want the pro's and con's that come with some an older performance car.
Will they be available and affordable in 10 years time?
Are they a ticking gold mine?
Will it die on me in a spate of bad luck?
Can I live with an old manual again?

Every day I am in awe of it.

I’d just have a look into the engine issues that they can suffer from. I was attracted to the saloon a few years back but didn’t fancy my luck.

And I really like the new phrase ‘ticking gold mine’
Very PH.

I saw these two this morning on a visit to Migliore to check up on the progress on my Maser Biturbo...

However, today's 'obsession' is the 308GT4 that was lurking inside the workshop, I adore these cars and would have one in an instant if funds allowed...

I've been noticing these lately, silly cheap, good looking with a nice interior and I've been wondering if the handling shortfalls can easily be addressed, would be a nice car for relatively small outlay and in my book at least a sure fire future classic.

I agree. Original one was a design classic and iconic. A tidy low miles one I think would be a good investment.

I'm not sure how much you can fix. Fundamentally the TT is glorious from a looks/style perspective but its a flawed style over function design, the whole rework they had to do with the spoiler and adding ESP is because of the inherent airflow problems arising from the design.

Certainly a classic although probably better for show than driving round in!
