3 things you Love & Hate about your car..
Discussion
1996 Bentley Continental R
Love:
1. Floor mounted pedals - they are wonderfully anatomical (your foot works better pushing down, than a pedal that swings from above). Very sad to see these deleted now on current Bentley range. I would imagine much more expensive to engineer than pedals swinging from above.
2. Switchable horns - switch between air horns or windtone horns. Fantastic - why delete this in the current range? I just don't understand it. A great quirky feature.
3. 550 lb/ft of torque at 2000rpm.
Bad:
1. Low speed ride is not the best for a car that cost the thick end of £200K in 1996. (Higher speed ride is great though)
2. Some parts are incredibly expensive (eg. suspension damper £1200 each - before fitting. Just hoping mine never go wrong)
3. The paint on my car is OK, but not the best and in an ideal world, it could do with a proper respray. Maybe one day.

Peugeot 308 SE
Love:
1. The adjustable armrest
2. Great cruise control/speed limiting gadgets
3. Full length panoramic glass sunroof with electric blind
Hate:
1. Short ratio gearing, slow off the line
2. Twitchy steering over bumps
3. Over complicated electrics
Land Rover Defender 90
Love:
1. The character
2. The ability to go anywhere/carry everything/tow anything/do anything
3. The heritage
Hate:
1. Crap heater
2. Poor turning circle
3. Lack of interior storage space

2006 Focus ST
Love:
1. The noise even with a standard exhaust.
2. The acceleration and torque are fantastic for what is after all a family car.
3. The road-handling, (although to be fair it had uprated suspension when I got it so I don't know what the standard is like).
Hate:
1. The cost for repairing faults - it's a Ford ffs, why is it so expensive?
2. If it's been raining and you open the boot it channels the water directly onto whatever you've got in there.
3. The turning circle is only slightly smaller than that of a supertanker.

2013 Golf Gti
Love
1. DAB radio and the phone connectivity. A necessity for my job travel.
2. The quick DSG gear changes when cracking on in Sport Mode.
3. The steering. Its not traditional, but it works and I have a lot of confidence in what the car is telling me.
Hate
1. DAB radio. It won't autotune to the corresponding station when I drive between regions (Teesside to Tyneside for example).
2. Lack of contact selection from the steering wheel.
3. The DSG at crawl speeds, is jerky and feels like a manual on the verge of cutting out.

Good question OP.
Scirocco R
Love:
- The front end
- The quite impressive turn of speed it has
- DSG farts
Hate:
- How it struggles to better 30mpg on the motorway - even at 70mph
- How it doesn't have LED rear lights
- How the original owner didn't spec cruise control given it was one of, if not, the cheapest option when new!
Mini Countryman Cooper S ALL4
Love:
- Its rear end i.e. BEAST
- How night becomes day when you turn the lights on
- How admirably it copes with the lack of mechanical sympathy my partner has (fingers crossed)
Hate:
- Whilst being nippy, the extra weight of the car removes almost all top-end power from the engine
- As a result of the above, how you end up driving it like a diesel, with there being little point in taking it above 4/5k
- How small the tailpipes look in the bumper (soon to be rectified with the fitment of the JCW exhaust system! )

Love:
The poor fuel economy - sounds silly, but reinforces my love for cars when I realise the expense I put up with to pay for my hobby.
The sound - that unique rotary whine sounds fantastic, I can't help but drive around in lower gears just so I can hear it more!
The balance - its a proper drivers car and it always feels so well balanced and planted regardless of the circumstances.
Hate:
The poor fuel economy - ok whilst I kind of like it, it does leave me poor every month!
The reputation - it gets on my nerves constantly being told how the engine is st and will eventually brake.
Its family tree - it was the successor to a legendary car... But arguably wasn't as good.
Car: RX-8

Honda Civic Type R FN2 2007
Love:
- The looks and interior, it still looks more modern than anything else from that era, it could be released now and would still be the most futuristic hatchback.
- The noise, after 5000rpm it sounds brilliant all the way up to 8000rpm, with a great induction roar too.
- The handling, grips really well, lift off oversteer on demand and much better steering than the older model makes it more confidence inspiring in the bends.
Hate:
- How far back you have to reach for your seatbelt.
- The ride, it really is very harsh, especially at low speeds
- The fact that everyone who hasn't owned one just recites Clarksons reiew of them when they're talking about them..."Torsion beam...not as quick as Ep3...seat doesn't remember it's position...etc"

BMW 525i SE Touring (E34)
Love
-Old school, well built, 'mechanical' feel
-No nonsense styling
-24v engine brilliant in every way
Hate
-Faux wood
-Vague steering
-Stiff, creaky leather
I hope to fix all of the 'hates' some time soon, although I suspect I'll spend the thick end of a grand on suspension and steering parts and it'll just be slightly less vague...

EVO 6
Love:
Handling.
Traction out of the corners on a wet track ( The Fez 360 with less horses on the same track just couldn't put the power down
out of some of the corners due traction control kicking in).
Looks. I just like it.
Hate:
Fuel tank size. 20 or so laps round Knockhill virtually emptied a tank.
Potholes and bridges with expansion gaps. Any loose tooth fillings???
The image they have, unjustified for a such a capable four door saloon.

Audi RS6 Avant (C6)
Love:
1. The Power. 702 Ps and about 1000 Nm. It is intoxicating.
2. Noises. At low speed; the lack of them, when gaining speed; the gunshot-like explosion from the Miltek as you upshift, and at high RPM; the howl of the V10.
3. The look. It is imposing, big, and blue.
Hate:
1. Power costs. 430 quid last month, only gets used for the school run (4 miles) and shopping (2 miles).
2. I work away from home so only get to use it myself one week out of 6.
3. Quad pipes. I would have fitted the stock-looking ovals. 400 quid to change the tips only.

Like the look in black ,the way it goes. Nice to drive.
Hate the rust poor quality of the interior build , and for a genuine low mileage 60000 the repairs on the last 3 years. New front springs and the air con has just packed up. My friends all said they are not the cars they used to be but did I listen, it'll have to go
