Bought this for £50, resprayed it silk black from a rattle can, stuck some 15" Merc wheel trims on it (14" wheels). Thought it looked pretty good.

Sold it for nearly £700 on eBay.

Just put steels on the winter hack with CrossClimates.
A change from the Prodrive alloys.

How are you finding the Crossclimates? I have put them on the m140i and not sure they quite cope with the power...

After four winters on Nankangs I am now on my second second season on the Avons. Can't fault them.

The car is the family pool car. 195000 miles and strong as an ox

Well those are 16 x 6.5 steels with 205/55 profile tyres, so I can't see myself 'pressing on' with a tuned WRX lump.

But the CrossClimates are superb in the wet and extremely comfy with that sidewall :-)

steels on one of my old MK2 GTi's -

I remember in 1989 when the deutschmark fell in value, so to make the books balance on the 8V GTI, VW fitted steelies in place of the 'tear drop' alloys and removed the electric windows and central locking. The 16V kept it's goodies though.

How ironic VW were scorned for fitting steelies back then, but now people are losing the alloys in favour of steels!

Nice colour. I always preferred Helious blue over the over-hyped Oak Green.

A bit late to the party, but hey :

Today I was standing next to a Ford Focus at the lights and noticed -for the first time- that it ran quite nice steelies.

It seems these are OEM, good to see some styling effort and a bit of "dish", spokes won´t be scraped on kerbs.

Size is 6,5 x 16 with 47mm hub offset

I hope this is not a repost but half the pics in here are gone, thanks to photobucket.
