Crikey, those yellow wheels are er interesting
I think they're Borbet's. The colour coded inspiration probably came from the 968 CS.

Unfortunate bird crap. That's an old Lloyd Motors or Carlisle car too, they still own the showroom it will have been sold from (albeit it's a MINI one now). My mate was the original DP there.
Just noticed this, we must've posted at the same time laugh

Nice looking Giulia 2000 spotted this morning in W11, London...

In the early 70s, my folks, free of kids at last, went out to buy a car just for them. They'd narrowed the choice down to an Alfa much like this, or a Lancia Fulvia Coupe.

They came back with an MGB GT.

It did last them an inordinately long time though. I was just hoping they'd buy something a bit more exotic. For them.
Early 70's and my parents thought it was the ideal family car!...

Any more pictures of your mum from back then? biggrin

We had a “restored” 1972 Giulia 2000 GTV ca. 1990 and it started rusting again along the sills pretty much straightaway! Lovely car though.

hehe

I've had my sills done twice in the last 18 years on my GTV but then I do drive it throughout the year in all weathers.

I also found out in Thailand - it's a fiesta saloon which is something I didn't know existed!

Well I kind of like that, like a baby Mondeo. I do find it odd when manufacturers do these random models in random countries, but I love that they do it. Like it was some local engineers pet project that was given the green light after nagging so much to do it lol!

The Irish Republic is a great place for saloon cars rarely seen elsewhere, escecially 1990s/2000s ste like the Renault Megane saloon, Ford Focus saloon etc. Farmers seemed to love them.

I wish my Dad had thought the same!

In 1972 he bought a J plate Fiat 125 but there was a J plate 1750 GTV next to it up for the same price.

While I loved the Fiat (it became my 2nd car in 1977) I'd have loved the Alfa a whole lot more!

That 6 Series is lovely, just reinforces my thoughts that nearly all modern cars are fat bloated over weight and over teched.
I bet that's smaller than a current 4 Series. scratchchin
The bodykit, whilst very eighties, does it few favours today, IMO.
I think it looks awful. In and of its time for sure, but what a mess. Standard car was so elegant.

That particular 6 series looks messed with though, appears to be sitting too low and the body kit looks aftermarket too.
Or maybe I need new specs

I'd rather not have the body kit, not least because of clearance issues but that car, with a leather interior, was my dream car in the eighties when I had my e28 525e. Multiple trips to the south of France over a decade in it - ticking over at 80mph while returning mid thirties mpg! Our 10yr old daughter was in tears watching its 3rd owner driving it away.

An unadulterated E24 with the correct amber indicators, ride height and chrome accoutrements is a fantastic looking thing in my eyes. Keep classics looking original

Considering it’s a relatively recent model, compared to its descendants it looks delightfully wee.

Original Vanquish, surely?*

Everything else after that has felt like a compromise...

* Ignoring the limited-run One-77 and one-offs.

On the original Vanquish the rear wheel arch followed through on to the door.

Not the happiest of styling solutions.
