It's not bad parking, but the council have "lost" £1500 (what they currently charge for a dropped curb so that this resident can park on his front garden. I wonder how long before the council ask him.to remove it.

Careful there, I was vilified for posting pictures of poorly parked cars in an M&S car park, it's the reason I stopped posting on this thread.

Plenty of spaces available that would need a 20 second walk to the door but no, not close enough.

As it appears the spaces are narrower than the car (including mirrors) I see nothing wrong there. Park filling the entire space and you could come back with a car 4 inches away from you on each side. I would probably have parked a bit further left If you are using two spaces go for it whole heartedly

It was some months or even over a year ago so I don't recall the poster.

Having first-hand experience of dealing with the bureaucracy of getting a dropped kerb put in with planning permission, highways consent and only then a council decision (followed by their mandated contractor taking the piss with their costs) I can imagine that for some this is preferable.

Also, with rented properties there's the situation that the landlord doesn't want to pay as he can rent the house put regardless, but the tenants don't want to pay because they can't take it with them. My view is force the landlords to pay if their tenants are parking on the front garden and they can sort it out with the tenant, but I can see how this crops up so often in areas where a lot of houses are rented.

I look at that and I see a car that could easily park inside the lines, even though it is slightly larger than average.

People do that exact thing every day without any problems entering or existing their , so I wonder what their made up excuse of choice is?

Perhaps they are overweight, or just have a little man complex.

Exactly, just get it between the lines

It's unlikely someone is going to park in the next space so close that either car can't open their doors

Parking like this just shows complete disdain for other drivers

I've seen a few signs recently in car parks stating that if cars are not parked within the space they will be fined, need a few in M & S carparks

The owner of this van is quite aggrieved that he's been unfairly treated by receiving a NIP for this atrocious parking:

Very trusting of you. The last time I parked my car in a tight space (centrally between the lines) a driver subsequently parked close to my nearside and put a 4 ft scratch on my paintwork as she squeezed between the two cars to get out to the shops.

In a multistorey carpark as we looked for a space my wife pointed out one which I could have fitted the car into but only left a few inches between the nearside and the driver's door of the next space which was a bit off centre. Another driver might just have parked. I kept looking to get a better space.

I googled for other responses to cars parked tightly together. Got these.

"Maybe get in the passenger side? I'd be keying the other car though."

"Well by the time I've accidentally dragged my key along theirs trying to get my door open I try to climb in via the passenger seat."

"Of course you should not let your door hit the other car. That would be deliberate damage."

"Just squeeze through and not worry if it leaves a mark on the other car"

"Jeans with studs on the rear pockets were made for such situtations."
