RE: Mercedes Unimog: A real-life Tonka toy
Discussion
We killed the last one in RAF service after a twonk drove it into a hangar writing it off whilst we were in Basra, Iraq around early '08. We had to swap to the much more capable JCB Fast-Trakc 2 (which had been around for about 10 years by then) but it never had the "personality" of the Unimog.
Saw a few Unimogs out in mongolia where they were built for the steppes.
However I will see your Unimog and raise you a Mercedes Zetro - met the owners of these two - I believe a million USD or so per truck, but that is in a country where I was shown a custom baby blue, with custom stitched baby blue interior brabus G Wagen biturbo v12 (maybe v8 but sure v12) that cost 500K USD imported.
