Thanks for the sensible replies, dunno why some people have had a pop but some good helpful people so thank you!!

So yes it has been modded that's part of the prob cus I was told that mods are covered under warranty but now they are saying only mountune mods are covered under warranty. I went back to see the bloke yesterday (had to take the bus lol) and said ur taking me for a joker and he said its ford who are the jokers!

ANyway now I have to go and get it repaired indapendentlee but after I had a go at him he said he will pay half teh repair costs depending on how much it is so that good. So warning is stay awy from this RS it is doing my nut in already especially if it turns out that they go all jellied eel on the warranty trying to slide out of it! This is my inheritance that I wanted to put down on a proper hot hatch and enjoy good car and now Im regrettin it tbh when this is sorted out I might flog it and just get something else but at least I can laugh a bit cus I'm only paying half repairs and I got cheap deal I think so fairs fair.

Thank you everyone but please be careful about Ford! And this RS!
What fictional modifications were done to it, out of interest?

Which MK Focus was it?

I'm not being funny but surely if it was a MK3, paying £15k for it...alarm bells would be ringing.

Obviously a wind up thread. I'm sure that everyone knows that your warranty is voided once you modify a car depending on of the mod relates to the failure.

If it wasn't a wind up then OP, Ford are not the problem.

That depends, what's the WBAC valuation for one now?

Probably only going to fail again after repair , there are fundamental issues with this engine imo

The issue looks to be the head gasket design, which is why there's a new one.

OP and subsequent posts are absolutely hilarious.

It's indapendantLee I feel sorry for, he has to pay half the repair bill and he didn't even do anything (assuming i have read this correctly?)
This had me chuckling for a good 5 minutes. Thanks.

I think its more the open deck design of the block which allows the head to warp , no gasket can cope with the amount of movement reported, some say you can pass a penny through the gaps

I'm very keen that Ford do fix the issue though

Why should ford or any manufacturer cover a car that is modified and working outside of specification?

Its well documented that most manufacturers check for mods before carrying out work under warrantly, Audi had my RS in for 2 days for inspection for mods before agreeing to change the gearbox under warranty.

So don't modify your car. Issue fixed.

Modify it and Ford are entitled to turn their back. Why is that unfair?

What I want to know is... did you kidnap independantLee’s children - if you did was he bothered, or does he really not care for them?

Without answers to these questions, it’s hard to pass judgement.

Edited to add, did you buy a family ticket for the return bus journey back from kidnapping?

My guess is Lee will be selling the kids to fund his half of the repair bill.

Unless this is a complete wind up you really do need to seek some help, not from Ford but from a psychiatrist! My god man wake up!

Where did I say its unfair ?

Its not Fords fault its not covered under warranty but its a design fault that will possibly cause ongoing issues inside and outside of warranty. OP could well pay to have the engine repaired only for it to fail again immediately

I dont have one to modify, I dont own a FRS
