Abt Audi RS4 previewed ahead of Geneva

Not as fast as that RS5-R, but would you just look at it?

The very first comment on our recent Abt Audi RS5-R story read: "So doing the same to the RS4 Avant is not beyond the likely. Look forward to that." Well today is your lucky day, Mr Smilo996, because here is the latest Abt Audi RS4. Looks good, doesn't it?

Note, however, that this is not an RS4-R, and as such does not boast the 530hp and 509lb ft of the RS5. Instead, as a plain old Abt RS4, it makes do with 510hp - the same as an AMG C63 S - and 443lb ft, thanks to a new Abt Engine Control unit. It's described by Abt as continuously adjusting, "more than 25 parameters, ensuring the optimum use of power in connection with the direct communication between the AEC and the engine control unit." Expect a few tenths off the key acceleration sprints, though nothing has been confirmed by Abt yet.

The tweaks are modest elsewhere, Abt offering a new range of wheels for this RS4 and new anti-roll bars. That being said, CEO Hans-Jurgen Abt said the tuner will be bringing a "little surprise" to Geneva, the press release stating that this, "is by far not the end of the road in terms of performance." So could this mean an even faster RS4? Perhaps it could be Abt's take on the RS6, taking it beyond even the Nogaro Edition? Maybe Abt is going down the Ruf route, and creating a new car that looks quite a lot like an old one - who wouldn't fancy something which looked like a B5 RS4 but had 500hp? We'll find out in a few weeks...

Looks stunning to me and properly angry and aggressive. I like what these tuning companies can do with the Audi models.

The bodywork looks good but the wheels are too big and therefore the tyres have to be very [too] low profile.

It'd look much better with wheels an inch smaller and a larger profile tyre.

I thought the exact same, and that goes for the RS5-R also. Tyres look spray painted on. Can imagine the ride being horrific on the road.

Looks all but undriveable to me. Thought the 510bhp would help you when driving over your own front bumper teacher
Ps love them though.

ABT really should do small wheels to keep the pistonheads forum bores happy, even though none of them will ever buy anything from them.

LOL.

rolleyes

I don't think that suggesting the car would look better with wheels an inch smaller and a slight increase in the tyre profile is criticism enough to be labelled a "bore".

"Looks good, doesn't it?"

No.

Awful colour, looks like a child pulling a face from the rear, front looks like a Hoover.

Absolutely no doubt it's fantastic to drive, very capable and hugely fast, but in my opinion it looks rubbish. That said, I drive a Saab so I clearly have different tastes to the majority on here smile

A t-shirt, in pink. It's your opinion that ABT should do smaller wheels for PH bores and you are more than entitled to it. That's all. It's a public forum where people come on to air their opinions, just because they don't align with yours doesn't make them wrong.
I've also commented on things like the P1, LaFerrari etc, but being honest I'm waiting until they drop below the £10k mark before I buy one of those.
I love the RS4, and would love to buy one I just can't afford one and I have no shame in admitting that. The ABT version is of course an improvement stylewise and powerwise, but even with a lotto win in my back pocket I would not be able to drive that car around here on these roads and with those wheels.

Why does it matter you numpty?

From having a look at previous posts you've made, you do seem to have a thing for defending cars on oversized wheels. Truly bizarre.

Now you see - with something as subjective and taste driven as aesthetics - to be honest being told to ‘move with the times’ or like something because it’s the trend, is like being told what to do.

‘You sir, conform with the prevailing taste consensus, or be deemed a bore!’

I agree with them, the wheels could do with being a touch smaller - it’s just an opinion. It’s hardly to most crushing indictment of the car is it?

The way you’ve been kicking off at people it’s like they’ve said they’d put it on 14 inch steelies with cross ply tyres.....then use it to run over your dog!

If you disagree with them that’s fine, but a rant about them being wrong rather misses the point....

You, Sir, are a wit!

Don’t forget people don’t just come on forums to express their views, but also to seek validation for them.
