In my 20 years motoring I've always run sheds and sometimes multiples there of.
I run a Motorhome dealership so am lucky as can buy car pxs at trade, tho we never seem to get much anymore.....
Finally ran into a replacement for my 200k Saab 93 last month in this crackingly dull 2009 Passat Estate, 1.9 near base model.
However by sheer fluke 1 owner from new, 163k but fsh all from the same garage all printed on the same blue paper lol
Bit too nice for me tbh but very happy with it for £500 and everything works

£500! Top shedding! All ok with it?
Everything works, regassed the A.c and even that works, 2 sets of keys and everything.
It's too easy must be a trap

Yeah that is too easy by the sounds of it, wouldn't mind running that myself, £500 could easily be a couple of premium tyres on some cars biggrin

I reckon the lift makes all the difference! Even all that suffering was not enough to put me off the glory of the Volvo (unless it fails the MOT again). Though iirc I worked out the S60 D5 would be £44k in today's money when new. Considering their value now, perfect shed material. Guess their ability to throw a massive repair bill keeps the values down?
Not sure they do throw huge repair bills do they? Clutch is a terrible job to be sure (to be sure), and stuff like CEM failure is complicated, but possible to repair. But mainly it's ball joints, and CV boots, and drop links (lots of them) and the like. Nothing too terrible IME. Even the cam belt on the E3 D5 is pretty sensible.

Shed updates...

X-Trail - got a run to London last week and got to see it tick over 130k on the way to boot, was faultless on the journey and passed its MOT the next day with nothing needed. Will be off to Cornwall in it next week complete with top box, wife, kids, dog & dog box and no end of other nonsense for a week away

Rav4 - passed its MOT 2 weeks ago, no work needed but I did notice last week the diffuser in front of the near side headlight bulb has snapped away, so I need to source a new unit (or a pair)

Chrysler - nothing much happening with day van project, work has stalled a bit on the house extension and it's still in use as an actual shed

Brimmed the V70 this afternoon... turns out it wasn't as close to empty as first thought, but I know for next time - still, 54 litres of Esso Supreme 99 @ 153.9 per litre was sickening, when this time last year, it would've been almost 50p per litre cheaper from the same pump!

Why do you put s/ul in it?

Mine is fine on Tesco 95.

Meanwhile have discovered the front fog lights aren't working. I'm thinking it's a fuse, because the light isn't coming on on the dash. Then again, knowing Volvo it might be because the dipped beam has a blown bulb.

Because I'm me. Everything our family owns MUST be ran on Super/Premium fuels - yes it's controversial, but it's something we've always done - even dads little CitiGo felt more responsive after filling with Super Unleaded - his comment brought on purely in conversation, he had no idea I'd chucked Super in.

Shed avensis passed its 3rd MOT today in my ownership. Needed a bulb, but did have other advisories. CV boot and suspension parts showing signs of corrosion & brake cables.

212k so far. 50k of that from me.

Seriously thinking about an EV as i spend nearly £3k a year on diesel alone!

On the subject of fuel and shedding. What sort of MPG do people see from theirs? I can imagine some are happily knocking around in 20mpg luxo shed barges but I'm also a fan of eco sheds. No idea what the Volvo gets but I'm happy with it, would love to see who's hitting the high 50/60's in their sheds.

i get 53mpg in my 207 1.4 hdi, maybe 55 if i take it steady, but started using all the 67 bhp. 30 road tax and no bills yet sort of makes it better anyway, as shed mpgs can be a small cost overall.

I’m back in a shed. Enter the £450 ML270 (with a snapped injector bolt), currently pissing diesel out the top of the injector but i’m hopeful I can be into it for less than £800 by the time I’ve had it recovered and fixed. 130k, nice cream interior and FSH with it too. MOT to August, never even been smoked in. Let’s see if i’m still happy this time in 2 days, I usually hate ML’s but this was too cheap to say no to. He wanted £895, I offered £650 then when I saw it I offered him £10 above scrap, arches aren’t great and it’s covered in tat badges and stickers. I suspect Stevie Wonder passed it but we’ll see

I don't usually bother working it out but a click to click refill of my trip to London last week in the X-Trail returned 31 MPG which is reasonable I think, I wasn't hanging about on the way down but kept it sedate on the way back

I'm glad you're still here buying up the things everyone else is too scared to touch. How you take all this in your stride I have no idea. I would have broken down into a sobbing ball within 5 minutes of some of the problems you seem to go through!!

According to the MPG menu, I average between 54-55.

Couldnt manage the fuel bills if it were much lower. I do about 25k a year.

Averaging 25.35MPG across 15,624 miles in my 9-3 aero shed, to be expected since it’s mainly urban driving in a 2.0T with an old auto box. Coming up to 4 years of ownership soon so clearly I don’t do that many miles.

It’s taken a bit of a dive since the change to E10 fuel so decided to try some Momentum 99 in it on the weekend, hopefully that will sort it

38 mpg urban, 57 on a run, about 46 mpg average, not the best but by no means the worst.

Roomster diesel does a easy 65+ once it's warmed up, Mrs JS's Tigra back of a fag packet average is high 40s and the XJ8... well... err... paperbag

I've just passed 15,600 miles in my non-shed Berlingo since buying it in March!
52MPG average helps though.
My previous Micra Auto Shed did 37MPG over 26K miles.

Think I know why trader was happy to get rid of this insignia it’s got absolutely no power whatsoever and is averaging 24mpg, and struggles to get to motorway speed in 4th snd can’t maintain its speed in 5th or 6th the fun of sheds!!

Feels like there’s no turbo attached but trader just keeps banging on about how he’s put a new oil pump on it,

Going back tomorrow to give him chance to fix it,

Either engine is goosed or the turbo is
